A good article here on Lee Carsley who was appointed interim England manager. Reading it the words convey what we are looking for in a manager and certainly one to get the best out of our attacking players with a front foot high risk attacking style. I would dig that. He has been in the system for quite a while now, knows how it all works and has managed most of the squad at a younger level, plus he’s won an actual tournament again with a lot of the players in the main squad. Maybe the FA have him on some kind of test, reading the article which is positive in the main sounds like we have the right man, in the right place at the right time. I hope he does well. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c3w6p8w0zjno

He hardly set the world alight in his time as England manager.

He is caretaker and one with massive experience at club and international level with England kids. Wouldn’t be my choice and not one that excites me. Seems to fit the safe, if boring, choices England tend to go for. Don’t make him a Poundland option by some way. An OK candidate for the caretaker roll, which also may give him the opportunity to show what he can do. Or not!

If you think he's an underwhelming choice then you should be overjoyed that he's only been hired as interim manager. He's been a favourite to take over from Gareth for years. This at least shows the FA is holding out for better.

He's proven himself a great manager at u21 international level but his record managing senior club teams is patchy and limited to a few caretaker roles. Hard to say if he's the safe appointment or a risky one. Why not give it to him for a few games and see how he does before committing? I'd prefer an English England manager, so I'm eager to see how he does. I'm not sure Howe or Potter are necessarily better choices for different reasons.

On paper Carsley sounds like losergate mk2, the Safe yes man the FA love, but apparently he is quite attack minded and likes to switch things up if it's not working. We will see if he does enough in these upcoming matches to get the gig permanently
