I absolutely agree with everything he says here in terms of play. Spot on, now we just need to believe a bit more.
Says we need 2/3 players and he's told Lingy, just need the right players. I still think we need a forward, a wide player and a centre mid.
Interestingly Idris was at the game today and he was talking for a long time with Prats after the game. Shame he's moved on as we would have won that had he been in this side.

Can’t be bothered when we talk of 2-3 more players. If it happens, it happens but not holding my breath. Heard it all before. Richie knows what a tough season this will be. We don’t have the depth and in many areas we don’t have the experience.
Richie is doing all he can to build up the confidence of the players he has. Good man management. Hope we can do OK,

But dohnut they are the facts, we do need two or three players. We need depth, we need quality and we need people to challenge for the shirt.

Agree fully that we are lacking depth, quality, competition. RW is right and always has been regarding squad matters. But there is a huge difference between what he says he needs and what actually happens. Let’s see if that changes as we run up to the closing of the window. If not, there always January.

It’s unlikely to change much in the short term dohnut unless some additional money is made available to fund the acquisition of the quality that’s needed.

I wonder if we are seriously looking at the Slade team from 2014 who nearly got us over the line, a team which cost nothing. Slade built that team up over a few seasons and today that remains one of my favourite O’s teams. When we look at it objectively and this is no disrespect to anyone, but Richie is a far better manager than Russell was, are we working to a similar formula? Maybe on a quicker trajectory? We clearly can’t compete financially with many clubs in this league and we have a manager and a team who have outperformed the league, like Slade’s team did.
Similar things seem to be happening now.

This actually really annoys me, does it take us losing points to ram this home to the board? Still short of up to 3 players when we’ve had all summer to get players in, is unforgivable

Richie will be fully aware of the finances yet continues to talk about additional players. Two things in play here. Either he is talking out of turn by wanting things he knows he will not get (I don’t see him as this type of person), a “ not my fault if we fail” position or funds are available and he is applying gentle pressure to get what he needs now. My view is this, I don’t believe Richie would constantly talk about more players if he knows there is no money. That would be out of order, not his style. Or money is available and he is trying to loosen the purse strings. I believe the Board will have committed to back him as part of contract negotiations. I believe money is available (not loads), I also believe Ling is hugely conscious of managing our budget tightly and reluctant to spend the clubs money, very responsible. I suspect there is a mini power-play going on. No friction, just gentle hand-bags.

You may be right, I honestly don’t know but personally I suspect the truth is more straightforward - the Board have simply decided they won’t/ can’t compete financially at a level that is necessary to bring in the type of ready made “ quality” to make a short term ( ie immediate) difference to the squad. They hope that Wellens can coach younger players with potential to become better players or that Ling can unearth the odd gem from the various unwanted players/ free agents in hurly-burly of the transfer window. Not an easy task.

Not an easy task. I think you are quite correct and I’ve no problem with that, it’s what Peterborough and more recently Brentford have done. So last year we sign Ethan who I think is a player with bags of potential and he’s better than when he arrived and at the end of this season he leaves for free. Not a good business model is it?

Not an easy task. I think RW simply gets frustrated when things don't go right. And after seeing those two goals we conceded yesterday, who can be surprised at that?
