Sky seem to miss quite a few of our chances for some reason! In a previous thread where people were talking about other Orient teams I mentioned some of them follow us. In the comments is a Spanish speaking person, saying Hemings needs a pair of hands!
The first goal is even worse than I thought yesterday, his arms are not even out trying to save it, almost like he’s trying to break his fall rather than push it wider of the goal, not sure what he’s trying to do there. The second is an absolute disaster as we all know.

Agree. At first I questioned the defending to even allow the shot, having said that it’s a shot you would expect a league 1 keeper to comfortably save. 2 down to the keeper I’m afraid. But I’m sure he is better than that. Well I’m not sure but I hope.

Who says old style football does not work anymore, see the route one goal Kelman scores 0.47 after a long cross field pass from the back by Dan Happe. Also Sweeney 1.07 losing the ball in that position, why do modern defenders when in situations of being pressured like that, not just take the easy option and just knock the ball out of touch and concede a throw in ?

A couple of excellent points den. I thought like you that Happe hit a very good pass rather than just a long ball. Both Sweeney and Beckles need to revisit the Defending Basics manual a bit more often if we are not to give away chances to our opponents.

''Both Sweeney and Beckles need to revisit the Defending Basics manual a bit more often if we are not to give away chances to our opponents'' That seems to be a manual shunned by most football coaches in this modern day and age idea of keeping possession of the ball and playing out from the back, goalkeepers included. I remember Brian Clough saying that if in trouble in a defensive situation, better to put the ball off into the back of the stand !

If you really wanted to know the answer to this question you would already. It's been one of the most debated things in football for about ten years.

Another odd thing I have noted in many football games including the recent Euros and the Olympics. When your team is under extreme pressure, what is the point of just belting the ball away from defence straight down the middle of the pitch to the opposing defenders when your team have no forwards upfield and you end up just giving the ball away straight back to the opposing side. Far better to wack the ball upfield out of touch for a throw in. Gives your team time to regroup and a chance that they might gain possession of the ball from the resulting throw in.

I would've liked to have seen Kelman's first chance of the 2nd half again, was a quality touch by Brown...
Unfortunately with that one not going in, Hemming had looked shaky all game. Frustrating but we just have to remember our start last season, and look at where we finished!

Never going to shake Beckles lapses of concentration off,Sweeny trying too hard being a good defender instead of getting rid of the ball.

Frustrating but we just have to remember our start last season, and look at where we finished! Comparing to last season start is reasonable. We did well in the end. But I think that with a better start where could we have finished. An opportunity lost. I really don’t want the same frustration this season, especially at the lower end of the table.

I doubt Beckles will ever change now. I agree, Sweeney is trying very hard and for much of the earlier part of the game on Saturday I actually thought he was doing well. Fair play to the young man. But he, like too many others, don’t seem to know when to pass. Or allow the ball to go out of play. I guess that comes with experience. Quoting the great Dave Mackey after being questioned about kicking the ball out “I’ve never seen a goal scored from row Z” with the ball out of play, the defence can reorganise.

Honestly, I think this season could end up very similar to the last. Agree that with a better start then playoffs were very possible, although I reckon we would've run out of squad like we did which is why I am predicting a similar season, don't think we'll be down the bottom but you never know Some exciting games coming up let's hope to get off the mark quickly
