Who will be in goal for tonight’s Carabao cup game against Newport? I would think that initially Wellens would have planned to have given Sam Howes the nod in order to get some playing time under his belt but I wonder now if he might instead continue with Zach Hemming? It might be seen as a bit of a vote of confidence and give ZH the opportunity to get his shaky start on Saturday out of his system. Any thoughts?

I suspect the same as you. I would give tonight's outing to the keeper RW sees as No.1, and I think that's Hemming.
I watched the Bolton highlights and their second goal was just awful. What I didn't realise, until watching the highlights, was their first goal was equally poor. Unless you're totally sure it's going wide, you push the ball out. The first goal is more of a worry for me. They were two poor decisions.
It was a poor performance and I think that maybe down to first appearance nerves - hence I would play him tonight. If he has RW's support then he has mine.

I would have initially gone for Howes..But due to last Saturday’s horror show from Hemming..He has to be thrown straight back into the deep end, just to get that performance out of his system. His season starts here..

Do not be spectacular,do the easy things well then good form will follow.I agree that RW should play Zach, every moment on the clubs pitch will be good for him.

Orient would surely have done their homework on Hemming and he had a very good season last year. You don't become a bad player overnight so I'd start him tonight and for the next five or so games and see where we are then

Yes,notice I put to get used to our pitch,Howes knows what that is like! and I will add stadium perspective with a crowd present.

To be honest, after Saturday I would be happy never to see hemming again, not one or even 2 mistakes, a whole catalogue of mistakes. Give hales a game and if he performs well keep him in. Spend the time on coaching hemming how to catch a football. Re the pitch, it’s a new one so Howes has no more experience the hemming.

Howes has had much more experience of our pitch and stadium.

My initial view is give Hemmings the shirt.
He knows he played badly Saturday and he'll want to get back out there and prove something to himself, as well as his teammates.
Tough on Howes who could do with the game time, but in the bigger picture, Hemmings was brought here to be No1.

Has to be Hemming. Get the demons out of his mind before Charlton. Needs to be on his game so a confidence builder is doctors orders.

As I suspected Hemming gets the starting role this evening. RW seems to have decided that this is an opportunity to establish ZH as the No 1 and put the bad start behind him.
