Perkins took a good ball, carried it and with a lovely weightes pass slid Kelman in for his goal. Hopefully this will give Perkins confidence he can play at this level.

Having watched the goal Os conceded, does not look to me as bad a mistake by the keeper as was said at the time. The ball was centered in from a free kick on the right side of the pitch, headed down into the ground by the Newport player so that the ball bounced into the very top of the keepers right hand side of the net, for myself, not as easy to save as many would think, anyway that is just my opinion. As redintheface reminds us in the ''Newport Fred'' looking back to when John Jackson joined Os from Palace, he was in very poor form but gradually got his game back. Yes agree, a lovely pass by Perkins to set up Kelman for his goal but taken really well by Kelman from an extreme angle. Perhaps Perkins is better suited as a pass provider to the strike forwards rather than being an out an out striker himself.

Spot on Denisrofe. Headers into the ground and bouncing are not easy for a keeper. Good tactic for an attacker, makes judgement so much harder for the keeper.. Why I’ve always been in two minds over the goal. Does it fall into the mistake category, possibly not. Is it in the could have done better category, probably. I think his reaction after conceding suggests he was not happy.
Bottom line, a clean sheet would have given him a boost. Hope doubts don’t creep in.

It was in the 'could have done better' category. Same was true of the first against Bolton. The second was a 'once a year' howler though. Shame this has all happened while he is trying to establish his credentials.
I wouldn't give up on him yet, but Howes is sure to be considered soon if there is not some improvement soon.

Newport defended appallingly. We wont meet a more generous defence this season.

I think this season is going be very similar to last season. We will struggle early on due to having to play the top sides in the first month or so and then we'll settle in and put a good run together. We will upset a few bigger teams along the way once the team really gels.Mid table is where I think we'll finish but nobody will fancy playing us and I'd be happy with that.Rw is a fantastic manager and his team is a joy to watch
