Hemming: He did OK, no mistakes and only dropped it once when fouled.
James: Pretty good all round but didn't provide anything like Charlton's Small gave them in terms of attacking threat. Perhaps he was told not to?
Happe: Solid enough but was exposed for pace a couple of times when their forwards made channel runs.
Cooper: Same as Happe.
Agyei: Played as a target man and seemed to be playing the "hold the ball up" role. That made it easy for him to be dispossessed and marked out of it. I think he's much more effective when receiving the ball on the run and playing quick passes.
Brown: Usual utilitarian and energetic performance. Probably asked to do too much work and was knackered when their sub outran him for their goal.
Donley: Really don't understand how a youngster can go straight into the starting eleven without ever training with his new teammates. He looks tidy and skilful but was dropped in too early.
O'Neill: Not in the game enough and not brave enough to run at the defence and try to make things happen. We're really missing Archibald.
Kelman: No problems with Charlie. With Agyei bogged down in the middle, Kelman was too often left without options.
Clare: Sorry, not a fan so far. Has confidence and determination but really isn't a very good player.
Obiero: Worth his place but needs to get a bit of swagger and take more responsibility. He's young and it shows a bit.
****
Sweeney: Did what he always does, didn't let anyone down.
Warrington: I couldn't work out what he was supposed to be doing, the midfield game mostly passed him by. Something for RW to focus on.
Beckles: Looked like the old warhorse he is. The game looked a bit too pacy for him at times.
Perkins: Quite impressed. Found space and made himself available and looked to build attacks although 2nd half options for him were rare. His pressing looks a bit half-hearted.
DJ: Introduced when we were being overrun but lost possession a bit too easily.
****
Richie: Booked again although that doesn't bother me. I thought picking Donley to start was a mistake and seemed unable to stem the tide washing through our midfield. Maybe Pratley would've helped? He complains our lads bottled it a bit (my words, not his). I make him right about that.

Fisch, just posted on the Fred , uncannily much of what you have said re the diamond, O’Neil , ojyei and Archibald. People will start thinking we are one and the same if this continues.

Agree with most of your comments Fisch but felt Dan Happe was a lot more than “solid” as was Cooper . I’ve always thought Tom James is a better attacking option on the right rather than at LB. Personally I’m not yet convinced over Obiero - anonymous yesterday - and left Brown having to cover way too much ground imho.👍

We have some very young and inexperienced players trying to perform like seasoned pros in a dog eat dog league. Not surprisingly they are finding it difficult.

Was thinking that Happe and James have been outstanding in defence so far.
Kelman has started well too.
Cooper being made Captain looked a bit of a masterstroke. He's looked very good.
And now of those four players that have started really well, three of them are injured. Such an Orient thing to happen.

I thought Brown was left to cover pretty much everything in midfield, and not just by Obiero. Warrington did nowt much to help out either. Obiero was better than him at least.
Brown both blocked a shot on goal and had his own decent shot blocked at the other end in H1. I remember Richie saying last season that JB and Idris ran 14k a game - very likely more than that yesterday.
No wonder he ran out of steam in the last 10. Pratley would have been a better sub but I guess the only way for Warrington to get better is to play and get used to it.
Also thought Happe and Cooper were good, but they do both lack a bit of pace.

Saying that Campbell was proper rapid, and I thought he was their best player yesterday.

It's early days and I think we've done alright against strong opposition but I don't think any of our new signings have shown much to get excited about bar the one who's been here before:
Hemming - Better yesterday but only on account of not dropping any clangers. Imo was too central for the goal given the angles Berry had to shoot at. Maybe I'm being harsh but I don't think he's totally blameless 🫣 Clare - Very involved and clearly not one to shy away from anything but that isn't always a good thing. Has been lucky not to have (a) picked up a red card and b) given away two goals from dodgy balls across our own box 🧐 Warrington - Only picked up his first minutes in the league yesterday tbf, but the only thing I can remember him doing is giving the ball away immediately after coming on. Hopefully there are good reasons why one of our earlier signings (and one brought in to replace such an important player) isn't starting yet 🤞 Donley - Given he's only been with us a few days I'm not gonna dig him out for being inconspicuous yesterday. But he was 😅 Jaiyesimi - Again, just a few minutes in the league so far but looks very much a squad player. Was awful in the short time he played yesterday 🫤 Perkins - Makes some good runs but needs too much time to think about what he's gonna do with ball. Potentially just needs a few games to get used to the level and for Richie to find the right role for him, as was also the case with Shaq 🙏 Kelman - Yes! Looks twice the player we had in L2! Can't wait for hi... oh, he's injured 😞
Anyway, I'm off. Need to put my bed linens in the laundry.

Earlier Obiero was being shuffled off the ball too much, and lost it quite a bit too, so a step backwards for him. If we're going to bring in one more player I really think a hard tackling defensive midfield enforcer with experience and war wounds to display. Put a set of teeth in the middle. Cooper and Happe were excellent. I thought Clare did well.

We choose the players, we choose to go young and inexperienced. So when the club use the ‘we have young and inexperienced players’ excuse it really annoys me. I hope this doesn’t get rolled out as an excuse like it did last season. Set the strategy, make your choice and live with it. Would be nice if our strategy had the opportunity to earn money but with two year deals, opportunity is limited.

If RW wants experience he could opt for one or both of those.

I would be surprised to see Moncur feature again personally. As for Pratley, the question remains, if we can only expect limited participation from him , was the decision to give him another contract the correct one?
