I was there sitting in east stand Hi ya eca, not sure which of us got bitten first, I can only remember my Grandfather, dad and me going to a couple of games in that div 1 season, don't remember a thing about the game, who we played or result, how ever do remember a guy walking round pitch before and at halftime playing a bugle, possibile ex serviceman. May have lasting side affects from the services |

I remember the home game vs Torquay United in September 1969 when both sides featured ex West Ham players on the left wing. We of course had Peter Brabrook, and Torquay had Tony Scott who was also highly competent. Finished 1-1 as I recall, but two days later we entertained Fulham and best them 3-1. It was after that display that I began to believe that we were serious promotion contenders
