Maybe they should bring back George Moncur And not just for the penalties either. Be good to see some genuine class out there. But hey, he don’t run around like a headless chicken so not good enough for us.

Next season his body will be in a different place too and that won’t be Brisbane Road. I can’t really criticise him even for the penalty miss. The game should never have got to the point where it mattered.

It was an awful penalty and epitomised the dreadful start we have had so far this season.

I have a theory.
I have noticed, Dans method of taking penalties is to stop during the run up, in order to make the keeper dive prematurely, when the keeper dives one way, Dan put the ball in the other corner.
However, it didnt work last night, because the keeper didnt dive prematurely, he stood his ground, and i think this unnerved Dan a bit, and he kinda panicked a little.
As an aside, i prefer a penalty to be taken the 'old fashioned way' ie, the taker hits a powerful shot, in the corner. Best penalty takers ive seen were Shearer & Le Tissier

Well he does, of course he does, but not to the level that is expected of a team where work rate is king. Same reason James was dropped, he too is not the type of player who charges around the whole game. Neither did Pigott. Richie is the manager, he sets the scene. His choice. But talking of pure football ability, Moncur remains streets ahead of anyone in our team right now skill wise. The guy is class. Why Richie said he was surprised a league 2 or league 1 team didn’t come in for him! He just isn’t a work-rate type of player, so off he went.

In my head class defined by football ability exceeds work rate
Let the workhorses get the ball and give it to the most skilfull player to do what they do best
That ain’t going happen now

Love Moncs but you couldnt reply on him to be fit and cant build a team around him. We need consistency to be able to build a midfield - which I think is THE most important part of any team.

Best penalty taker I saw was Gabriel Batistuta. Always an exocet into the top corner

he's the best penalty taker I've seen in an Orient shirt. Stan Bowles was awesome, but only had a few for us, whereas Lockwood did it for years.
