Did you go? I did. Arrived at brizzy, there was 50 coaches going because of a train strike and the club offered for just a pound.a bargain even then. Coaches were everywhere, down all roads by our ground. We took including car people 7000 to fratton park for a Sunday match. It was the first time Sunday was used in the UK. Dull 0-0 result, but a great trip full of singing orient fans

Came up as 27 Jan 1974 Portsmouth v Orient D 0-0 FA Cup, then 9 Jan 1974 Orient v Portsmouth D 1-1 FA Cup and lastly 05 Feb 1974 Orient v Portsmouth L 0-2 FA Cup. So how did this work out, did these games go to extra time and was the third game game played at a neutral ground ?

I didn't go to the first game, and as a pupil at Cardinal Wiseman junior in Goodall Road, escape for the midweek replay at was thwarted by the teachers patrolling all the obvious exits. As a timid 11 year old I didn't really make that much of an effort either as the consequences at home..a good leathering for you non catholic readers.. had it been noted, were not worth the risk. I did, however,go to the second replay.Again,I recall it was a very cheap coach deal. As a consequence, despite the loss,I've had always had a soft spot for Selhurst Park as my first away ground.

Time will pass very quickly now, and then we will know our first round proper FA cup opponents.Hoping for an upturn in form and a long cup run bringing a little prestige and a lot of money into the club.

Hope we play our best players and get to at least round three. Then draw a big one away. Fa cup prize money so much better than league cup Even if a big premier team fields a weak team 35kk+ turn up

One final memory before this thread sails into the sunset At the second replay at selhurst we were joined behind the goal by many palace fans, with their scarves shouting for orient. They were there to see their old players Jackson,Payne,Hoadley and Queen

It has been argued that those replays with Portsmouth cost us promotion
