Svetlana is an accountant but had to flee her town in the Donbas and came here in N Croatia with a few suitcases, her pets and kids. Now works in a local Spar supermarket and rents a little house in the hills. Her husband joined the military from the outset. Today, he was in the wrong place at the wrong moment and was killed. Now she has no partner, no property and her residency visa is not a long term one.
Perspective 😥

Stop Putin and Zelensky to some extent. So many dying in this way. A good amount of men in that country have been round up like a safari by government vehicles and forced into war against their will. Amidst suspended elections also.

Makes you realise how lucky you are. I am a volunteer for a Masonic Charity and help other charities. See a lot of sad cases. Life is cruel for so many people throughout the World.

Amidst suspended elections also. I believe that is the case in Russia. I suspect in Ukraine its people who willingly want to fight for the freedom of the country they love and their families who live there.

Perhaps Putin felt provoked by the ever expanding NATO and Ukraine wanting to join the EU along with NATO. Putin still views the Ukraine as part of Russia and wants to recreate the old Soviet Union. The war is getting worse and god knows how it will end up.

Didn't the west cause this problem with the expansion of Nato despite promising not too? We are not blame free in the West. Trouble is the Democrats love a war and I'm sure they want this one to kick off now big time.

''Trouble is the Democrats love a war and I'm sure they want this one to kick off now big time'' I dont think they do eg ''want this one to kick off now big time'' Do not have the illusion that Putin is a Mr Nice Guy, that he aint, Russian elections where opposition politician parties are banned and also too many people brutally bumped off or put in penal colonies if they dare to speak openly in opposition to Putin.

Trouble is the Democrats love a war and I'm sure they want this one to kick off now big time. The Soviet Union was made up of lots of various peoples who wanted to go their own way after the break up of the Soviet Union. Ukraine became an independent country, the majority of whom were Ukrainians rather than Russian, gave up their nuclear weapons under a treaty to which Russia guaranteed their independence. They have a history of being treated badly by the Russians, millions died in a famine during Stalins time, which some historians believe the Russians could have avoided and some have labelled it a genocide. Putin has written about how he wishes to re establish Russian control of what he sees are traditional Russian lands, Ukraine being one, but the Baltic states aren’t safe from him. He didn’t need an excuse to invade, he wants his place in history and he doesn’t care how many people he kills to get it.

For just one example, as happened with the Deportation, execution, ethnic cleansing and genocide of the Cossacks
