Not at all nice. Avoid if you can. Did not bother me that much when I have had it done a few times. Strange I hate blood tests and injections on my body, visiting doctors or going to hospital, but I have a good dentist and I am very relaxed when he is doing jobs on me. injections included.

It's the jabs into the lower jaw, bloody hell they hurt. He had to do it again due to my ever-so-sensitive nervous system. Two hours later and I can't close my mouth. I'll be back next week to get it sealed up. He suggested I get a couple of implants and crowns to fill the gap or three - feck that!

I went to Smiles in Brentwood and I never felt the jabs but my pocket is still suffering 🥲.

My mate was telling me tonight he has to have a wisdom tooth out, but it's really infected and broken so he's gone on antibiotics. He also has to have the root taken out and they will knock him out to do the work.
Is that what you've had done fisch?

He also has to have the root taken out and they will knock him out to do the work. Is that what you've had done fisch? Yes but without the knocking out bit. Infected tooth, nerve canal and bone surface. The whole deal was 60 Euros (sometimes you gotta love Croatia) but the jabs right at the back of the jaw were so painful and not really 100% effective. Anti-bots for a week and some kind of fluoride insert in the tooth and canal to kill off the nasty stuff then back next week to clear all that out and seal it up with gunk. If I'd opted for the general anaesthesia then I would have to navigate loads of test to prove I was unlikely to die from being knocked out. I had neither the time nor the inclination. The worst is over now but that pain!!!!! My dentist is also the dental surgeon at our regional hospital so I have to have some faith in his skills and knowhow.

So weird this is a thread. I have a root canal extraction tomorrow afternoon. My one and only filling broke off and the hole has gone down to the nerve so having it out. Offered to have a replacement for a measly £1400. After 3.5 seconds thought I politely declined.
Loved reading this thread…. 🤔

I bet the just the jabs cost more than the sixty errors you were charged here, let alone the work you had done. We get royally ripped off.

Not at all nice. Avoid if you can. I have had that done twice, the only bother was the time taken,The last time I had it done about five years ago, maybe less it cost £480 but the tooth is saved and for that reason money well spent.

Long time ago since I had this done a couple of times, like you a long job but like yourself, not that painful.
Two things that were painful was getting an abscess on a previously crowned tooth, OMG, the pain was quite horrific.Dentist gave me antibiotics but the did not do the job so sadly the tooth had to be taken out. After that happened over the next few years a few other crowned teeth nearby had to come out due to abscess, antibiotics failed to clear the injections. Another terrible pain was when I got a right knee replacement in March this year, with around 5 weeks of 24 hour a day of awful nerve pain, 6 months on now and knee is not swollen anymore and out of pain and physio has given me the all clear not to come back again for checks. I can now fully straighten the knee and getting 120 degrees of knee bend and not in pain when walking. Surprisingly I can kneel on that knee doing gardening etc with little to no pain.

Something to think about is free treatment at guys hospital London bridge. They have students with tutors watching and they are semi qualified, but are bloody good already. Check out undergraduate dentistry guys on their website. Theres a six months waiting list, but well worth thinking about for the future Its saved me a packet.

I have spent at least £17.000 on my teeth due to dental neglect for 14 years. The specialist dentist said I could sue for that neglect, but if you want to save the remaining teeth urgent long term work is needed. The time anything got to court I would not have any teeth of my own.The specialist said he would back me in court along with others in the profession. I did not sue and after all the treatment most teeth have been saved and I am pain free.I had bone implants twice and cannot remember how many times I have had my gums cut and stitched. Most of that took place on a Saturday morning and I would go to watch Orient with my gums stitched many times. Some of the work took place at the posh dental centre in Moor Park,we used to go by train and it was a pleasant journey.Cannot thank those private dentists enough.

It depends on total income and because me and the wife get state pensions and the wife gets a private one we are over the monthly amount to qualify ☹️
