What do you have to do to qualify for pension credit then ? It depends on total income and because me and the wife get state pensions and the wife gets a private one we are over the monthly amount to qualify ☹️ Go private for the consultation bigron,it won't break the bank, then you can judge what suits and the price you are prepared to pay.Imagine selling Pandemonium with a full set of shining white gnashers.

Back from the Dentist, they went private in April. Check up and x-rays £58. 10 minutes, not too bad. But need a replacement filling, back tooth. £265, 30 minute appointment. So started to look around and discovered this is about the cost given it’s in the larger size.
To say this pizzes me off is an understatement. Not so much the cost but the fact that dentists are simply cashing-in on a market place where people who have paid into a system all their lives have no choice but to pay these prices. Or suffer. The opportunity to shop around just gives the same price list.
Have no objection to professional people earning a decent living, both me and Mrs doh have paid private in the past for some treatments, but what I see happening is simple greed. But not greed that impacts on those like me who can afford to pay up. But how do many others less well off manage. The surgery and car park historically buzzing, now near empty. Fewer people paying a heavy price, less busy dentists doubling their salary. Sod the rest. Let them suffer, the dentists after all need to fund their new flash cars somehow, that how is peoples pain.

If you have the money, pay it or the government will take it from you and your kin. But dohnut makes a good point. What about the people who can't afford it? I personally don't like my dentist, so I've tried to change, can I? Absolutely I can't so I'm stuck with a clown who doesn't have a clue in my opinion. My last trip cost me approx £275 and I'm due a visit to them again. Both private hence the cost. The system is not fair, the people who need it can't necessarily afford to go private and therefore there health will suffer. Dentistry needs an overhaul however, I doubt the government care too much about it.

Nothing is free, I’ve paid my taxes and nhs contributions my whole life so I am entitled to get any medical or dental health I need without having to shell out more. It’s only free if you come over on a dinghy.
