We need some on this board! It's not the end of the world, it's a football club we all love and enjoy. Of course we want the team to win every game 5 nil, but reality doesn't do that!
I read the sad news today about Chris Hoy a true Olmpian in every sense and his diagnosis is bad, yet he's said I'm fighting this all the way, its not going to stop me. His wife suffers from MS which is a nasty disease and I know all about it as my dad suffered with it for 40 years. That's that's bad for both parents, but they soilder on, they are not quitting, seeing the positives rather than the negatives.
Now today I am going to watch our women's team win today! Thats positive. The fact we can support our club after what we went through 7 years ago is positive.
We have a lot to be thankful in life. I've been blessed in so many ways, and I'm grateful and thankful for the opportunities that I've had.
Richie will turn this around and the team will win again. We don't all agree on who should start or who is a good player or a bad player. But the one thing in common, we all want the same, a team to be proud of, a team that wins. I predicted we'd finish 18th this season after saying 8th last season. If we hit that, for me that's success and we build on what we have.
We've been around since 1881 and like Nigel says he setting us up to be around in another 100 years.
I will leave you all with this. Stay true, stay positive and healthy. Keep your family close cos they are the most important people in our lives.

But it doesn’t work like that does it. Never has and never will. I particularly reject the concept that we should feel better (or not so bad) or positive because someone else is worse off. There is always someone else worse off somewhere in this world. Tragedy is everywhere.
as human beings we are able to handle multiple situations at the same time. Some make us happy, others sad. There is no need to try and offset one against the other. So no, I’m not going to make myself feel better by others sad news.
if we are talking perspective, mine is simple. If Orient ceased to exist tomorrow or get relegated, it doesn’t impact on my life at all other than an emotion that I know will subside because it is far less important than so many other things in life. In the meantime I’d really like to enjoy it, precious little enjoyment right now.

All very true and Orient and Richie have no divine right to avoid relegation this season, if we get the rub of the green and play better we will stop up, if we dont we go down simple at that and life will go on. Like dohnut I have had serious health problems for the last couple of years and have up to now got through, meanwhile I have other serious health issues and problems in other areas to worry about including my lady friend who has had various serious health issues for many years and is now losing her eyesight, I often struggle to go to sleep at night as I turn things over in my head, so Leyton Orient is not my main concern in life.

Truth be told I doubt Orient is the main concern for many of us other than owners and staff. Even for many of the staff Orient are simply stepping stones to a better future or a payday prior to retirement. Very few stay long term at a club these days. Loyalty for a club only goes so far. Orient are not the be all and end all of life. great fun to create an emotional bond and support a club. Success is great, failure a frustration. But life for us all is about being judged. By employers, clients, suppliers, colleagues, teachers, neighbours etc etc. everyone has an opinion. it’s a fact of life and footballers and staff are no different. human nature. So if the club are screwing up or doing well its natural for comments to be made. Else what’s the point of a forum. Don’t mean it’s life’s primary importance.

“It’s dark because you are trying too hard. Lightly child, lightly. Learn to do everything lightly. Yes, feel lightly even though you’re feeling deeply. Just lightly let things happen and lightly cope with them…”
Aldous Huxley
I quoted this to lightly impress our poet redshank.

So good I have a copy in a frame in my study. When the dark times arrive and the futility of life looms in the depressions that come along, its words revive the power to fight.

Such immortal lines as: There ain't no pleasin' you - you got anuvver fing comin' - wot wiv one fing an' anuvva - 'ow me muvva coulda fancied that I just don't know - If you can't get a London Gel, yer better off doin' wivout it. Wordswerf and his bleedin dafodils are alright for some but C & D spoke my language and used my idioms. Kelly and Sheets rub me up the wrong way.

For the record, my favourites are The Bard, Plath, Hughes and Betjeman amongst lots of others that I like. It's nice to see literary comment and quotes on this forum. Gives it something.

I published a poetry book in 2020. I won't name the title due to my own and family's privacy concerns.
I have not received any royalties as at yet - I assume it was not the publisher's bestselling book
It's not classical poetry but it expressive and will be my legacy.

Loved it orientsc, poetry is good for the soul.Somewhere there is a part of a poem that says exactly the mood you are in and what you feel.Read a lot of Edgar Allen Poe last night, a very good poet as well as a great Gothic story writer.
