Saturday sees the promoted Spirites come to town on the back of a good pre-season culminating in a decent 3--1 over The Villa.Chesterfield have a very settled team and come to O's on the back of being promoted as champions of Div 2.Deffinately no push overs, which is why I think Russ should start with most of the side from last season, plus of course GK Legs and Pritchard for Moses.I'm not sure about Baudry starting on Saturday and would use Cuthbert if fit.The newbies will have to work hard to get fit and I cant see them playing a regular part in the team until September,so a settled O's side and a strong defence is what is required for a while. Every game O's play will be like a cup match for the sides we come up against so not to lose is what we should aim at, for a while at least.

Agreed gary.
Slade can't be Mr Nice guy anymore. Orient are now promotion favourites and so he needs to crack the whip and explain that only the best can play.
Every game is now must win until May.

Perhaps your not reading my post correctly. I have already said put Cuthbert in and drop Baudry,he is class but at the moment. But would you really put McANUF and Henderson on(or Simpson)to start.I was right next to McANUF and he was panting for breath and looks nowhere near fit.Henderson has no match fitness at all and forget simpson for a while yet,he looked grossly overweight. My MOM was Ledskins,Elliot was hopeless first half,he is not an attacking fullback but a much better defender.Several times I have seen him play RB and has never played as well as he does LB,which is strange being a right footer.

My back four for Saturday .would be Lowry/Clarke /baudry /omozozi .the midfield I will go with mcnuff /vancelot/Pritchard/cox.james will drop to the bench.up front .mooney and lisbie.on the bench batt /dagnall/james/cuthbert/woods/Simpson and lashket .i would put lashket on the bench just in case mcnuff has a cardiac arrest .this kid has been getting rave reviews.simpson and Henderson can watch from the stands and eat donkin doughnuts.

But the newbies don't look anywhere near fit to me.No, any points and a not losing will be good for a while.See Wolves and Brentford if you need reminding.

Our back four will depend on who is fit. I expect Baudry/Clarke to be our main partnership. Baudry is prone to the occasional error, but we are a much better footballing side when we have him at the back and less likely to hoof it long.
I expect Chesterfield to come for a point, their fans certainly think so on their forums.
Cox/James/Vincelot/Pritchard as our midfielders, with Mcanuff on for a cameo in H2.
Up front it has to be Lisbie/Mooney, only because the new guys won't be match fit, with Dagnall and Batt as the usual impact subs. I think we'll be playing pretty much the same team for the first 3 or 4 league games, until the new guys are up to speed.
Wouldn't surprise me to see the likes of Henderson, Mcanuff, Simpson and Lowry get a run out at Plymouth.

Maylands, I have been posting exactly the same as you. Anyone calling for the newbies to play obviously haven't seen any of the pre season games. Only Pritchard is fit, and I include lowrie in that. Omozusi was dire at right back.

Omozusi was dire at right back. Yep Osoldest,if you stick them in too early O's could end up with long term injuries. It will be interesting to see where Pritchard eventually slots in to the team. Strange that Elliot doesn't seem to play as well if not better,at right back like he does on the left.First half Saturday Russ obviously pushed him higher up the pitch but he is not an attacking type player and looked much better in the 2nd half on defensive duties and the defence then looked tighter. He was the same at Wembley, tried to get down the line later in the game but it was like watching someone run into a caldasac ,didn't know what to do next.Still one of my favourite players when he does the simple things well
