Epson is a good maker of printers. The one you have chosen is a lot more hi-tech than my one which is the more simpler Epson XP-442 inkjet printer. Cost me around £60 around 4 or 5 years ago and ''touch wood'' had no problems at all and is very simple and easy to set up and use. I use the much cheaper compatible own brand cartridges that are just as good and a fraction of the cost of the Epson cartridges. I hope you also have a good experience with your new printer.

Wow, just looked at this model. Superb choice redshank. Think of getting this when my one fails. Though having said that, my printer, an older version, chunters away quite happily when called upon. Had it a long long time and only ever had to replenish the black, the inks seemed to last forever. And I print colour photos sometimes. Great quality.
What I do if not used for a while is print a test page. Good idea on most printers to avoid clogging.
Enjoy. But expect frequent updates if you use their app, these take seconds.

I had that printer, bought it for the kids, used once, I went to use it and it was clogged up, tried to self clean it many many times, didn't work so I threw it away. Not bought one since.

You had which printer, the Epson ET 2856 ? If so then hope that redshank has better luck than you did and if the printer you purchased was only used the once, could you not have returned it under the years guarantee ?

no as it was older than a year when it happened.

no as it was older than a year when it happened. Older than a year and only used just the once ? I use my printer at least once every 2 weeks minimum and quite often much more often, sometimes 3 or 4 times in a week, it varies to my needs.
Was your printer the same model as redshank has just got, eg the Epson ET 2856 ?

Printers need regular use or they clog up and the self clean will struggle to fix. Hence my tip to redshank to regularly print, even a test page, to stop ink congealing like old fat on the print heads. later printers are more resilient but still need to be used. It’s a good habit. If ignored then issues can happen.

yeah looks exactly the same and I paid somewhere in the region of what he quotes. Put it down to life Den, the kids have not had another one since, neither have they asked for one either. I think if I got another, I'd get a laser one.

I think if I got another, I'd get a laser one. Lasers are a decent option and getting better for colour all the time. Even photos. Not too sure on the cost of photo-quality laser printers. But if photos and associated papers ( important) ain’t your thing lasers are great. Fantastic speeds too if volume matters. Used them at work many years ago, remember them being the thing that destroyed fan-fold paper, sprocket holes and all that. As a programmer I loved them. Though not having carbon copies irritating. That ages me.

I usually buy "Printer Not Found" printers. I find it strange because I can find it - it's right there on the desk!
