Great write up. But no analysis is complete without looking at the impact of Tuesday night games on other clubs who may well have increased prices too. Difficult for sure but it may well separate out the impact of form as distinct from cost. For example if we were doing well in the league, would Tuesday games and a reasonable increase in cost make a massive difference or a small one. Also difficult to compare this season with last, that having the benefit of following on from our promotion. Too many variables.
Interesting subject. But for me I’m not convinced supporters can complain too much about ticket prices given annual losses. That really is a tricky issue for the club to balance. But we are supporters, not fans. I see a subtle difference. Just how much should we expect the Board to subsidise our pleasure (or pain).
I’m a firm believer that if the product is good, people will buy. Saturday or Tuesday. For example a 3rd round cup game against Arsenal on a cold January Tuesday night with raised prices will sell out. Get the product offering right and people will come. Our product offering, winning football, just will not attract people. The bottom line. Fix that and numbers will increase.
