So the Orient Fan who objected to certain chants in the South Stand has written a column for the Daily Mirror about his experience. Orient Fans Trust seem to agree with his sentiments. I was not in that end of Brisbane Road when it happened; were the chants as bad as reported? Certainly the Twitter abuse seemed to be pretty bad after his comments, although I think that might have been an instinctive defensive reaction of someone writing negatively about LOFC. Any thoughts/first hand experience of it? This may mean the stewards go in a little heavier from now on, my dad's going to be looking over his shoulder, he's terrible for effing and blinding over in the West Stand, where we sit. www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/its-time-stop-making-excuses-3953437?www.leytonorientfanstrust.com/story.asp?storyChosen=339(Note: MungO asks this doesn't degenerate into name calling etc. I just thought it might merit discussion)

He stood up for something he thought was right. The abuse he got was totally unwarranted.

First I have heard of this whole thing as am only generally interested in the watching of football and not so much all the other s***. Twitter, to me, is a bit of a poisonous place for attracting the opinions of people who can be bothered to have one. in other words, quite often if you have something to say about someone and feel the need to tell them on twitter, it is probably going to be negative. Part of me says well-done to this chap for speaking out about something he believes in but people have the right to behave how they wish until it directly offends others. In the case of kids hearing football chants, and as a teacher and father to be, I think I would go ape s*** if someone was abusive or could not control their own vocabulary around me and my child at a footie match. Saying that, I have joined in with the song in question and think it is quite funny....I don't sing the rude bit because saying t$$$ and f$$$$ at a match is not talking about how peeed off I am that Charlie Daniels does not play for us anymore and how I wish Super Kev was still as fast as he was last season and how Dawson should come back into midfield. Interesting debate that sounds like it went too far. Ironically, is East London full of that stuff...?

I hAve a orient scarf that I brought from the club which has along the middle ' O East London is wonderful' which is in relation to the song, I would like to know was it this chaps first football match ever? I've heard far worse and at orient and I've only been a fan for 4 years, and let's be honest if the worse words he hears at a football match are tits and fanny then he can count himself lucky.

MungO are your twins girls or boys or one of both?
Will you be able to come on Saturday? Are the twins coming yet or are you waiting until Orient are in the Premier League?

We all disagree with things people say but we don't all hurl abuse at them.
