We got away with it last night, in extra time Plymouth hit the bar and post plus Woods made a couple of fantastic saves. I don't know what has happened during the summer but Nathan Clarke looked like a defender who has been playing in the Essex Senior League, his lack of pace was embarrassing to watch, Plymouth 2nd goal he must have been 8 to 10 yards in front of the Plymouth forward when he made the mistake of letting the ball bounce, the rest is not pretty to look at. I can't see us getting much at Oldham or Bristol with that defence. I fear for Slade if performances don't pick up he may not see the end of August.

Did you go crusade and if so what was the rest of the game like? I hear from a Plymouth mate of mine that The Greens played a bit above themselves and nearly got a result but he did say O's were very neat and tidy in the first half and he thought O's might give the greens a tonking but never happened.

I did make the round trip of over 500 miles, we started ok two great goals with the one from Cox a stunner. Plymouth nicked a rather lucky goal on the stroke of half time. The rest of the match Plymouth were in control they sussed out Clarke as the weak link, his lack of pace was quite embarrassing to witness. Woods was outstanding and it was down to him we are in the 2nd round. Slade sort it out.

Clarke has had an operation in the close season maybe he is still feeling the effects of that and is not quite match fit

I think this season will be a slow burner as the team needs to gel. At least we are in the 2nd round, West Ham away would be nice.

He looked off the pace on saturday. If he isn't fit then i hope Cuthbert is ok for Saturday then Clarke can get back to fitness.

The main thing is, we know that Clarke can do the job. For whatever reason he's not delivering at the moment but hopefully it's just a question of getting him up to speed. If it's not the after-effects of the op I doubt he'll get a break.

I went last night. One thing i didn't notice at the time was that Clarke was blatantly fouled by the Plymouth Striker (approx 32 seconds on in the clip):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtmqis_pDgI&list=UUkwWn4ICfzVLD5ts_RW3TRw
I also went on Saturday at home and i would say he's definitely a little off colour at the moment. Needs a little bit of time and he'll be fine.

Just saw the second Plymouth goal on the Football League show. Oh dear, my 66 year old pop could have done better than Clarke there

Tommy Cunningham who lets say was not the fastest over 100 yards look like Usain Bolt compared to Nathan Clarke on Tuesday, he looked like a Ryman League defender.

The back 4 or 5 works as a unit. Slade must stop tampering with it. Omozusi is different class playing out of position and when fit Cuthbert must play, Also Vincelot must be the one protecting the back 4. I realise it is early days and fitness may be an issue, but I haven't been impressed with Lowrie , he should wait his chance. Clarke is being exposed because of the tampering , and while he is not playing well, who is?. To blame him for the 2nd goal is laughable, he was clearly pushed off the ball.

I honestly see nothing wrong with there goal, it was shoulder to shoulder and Reid in this case was much stronger, Clarke was pushed off the ball too easy though,

the form of all players comes and goes ,it seems that Nathan has hit low form at the beginning of the season ,he is a good player IMHO and will come good ,anothe3r factor is that Vincelot is playing further forward and does not seem to be linking with Nathan ,and the formation of the defence has changed from last season ,he has to get used to having Lowrey beside him .Ithink it will all come good in the end.

I think he's carrying an injury. I'm not one to jump on the whole "no sentiment" bandwagon that a lot of supporters have been pushing, but if he is he needs to be dropped. I know he's the captain, but the man isn't up to task at the moment.
