I know it's a long shot and far fetched but is it possible that some of the players are so fed up of the bollox at Orient that they have injured themselves purposefully and just want to be out of the set up as long as possible

No, I doubt that, when you do that you miss out in playing money, win bonus, clean sheet bonus, goal bonus etc etc,
