OK I'll post something... I sit in the West Stand - true it is probably the slowest to respond to anything doing the rounds but we do try in our way. Seriously, Preston had a cracker with that song they were belting out most of the match. The secret (I believe) is in hijacking a bloody good tune. The right tune will roll on and on effortlessly and with little help - as theirs did. It's no surprise that churches nicked battle anthems* and successful folk tunes and re-scripted them as they are successful BECAUSE they are very singable and can therefore be belted out by untrained voices. I'm no music theorist and I'm sure Mr Lloyd Webber could explain why far better. We have a few good ones, but really need a team one that can get up the momentum that Preston's did
* We all follow the North End is the tune Marching through Georgia

Good post assissi.
I have sat in the South Stand for a few years now. I am sure it was a much better atmosphere a few seasons ago.
Even this season it can be quite loud which is good as we are nearest the away fans but last Saturday was dire. The whole stand could barely muster an Orient, Orient clap clap etc. I think it was a combination of the following:
The loudness of Preston fans intimidated everyone. The South Stand was full but there were loads of random people I have never seen before. Maybe now if Orient go on a slump the hardcore support will step up and sing.

Mmmmm.... Us Westies usually catch on the edge of the clapping (nothing too ostentatious you understand!) ....from where I sit "Orient, Orient..." seems to end as a mumble

We do need something to fix it, at times it's like being at arsenal.

The problem I notice is we have little groups spread around the ground who like to sing and chant, the solution would be to get em together aka what palace do and do that, that's why away games are much better cause everyone is together
