It’s been a few hours since news broke and I still find myself numb with shock. Whilst not being old enough to consciously remember him as a player, I can certainly remember him as a manager, and a fine one at that. Whether it was with Rushden or Newport, Harriers always had a battle against a Justin Edinburgh team. In non-league, he was one of those managers anybody would have loved to have had in their dugout. You always hated coming up against a Justin Edinburgh side because you knew you had to be on your mettle for 96 minutes and you’d have to earn everything you did, and didn’t, get. It was no surprise to me that he had some spells in the league. When Orient came down it was a shock. When Justin was appointed, it would’ve been more of a shock if you stayed down. This success story now becomes tinged with sadness, but should be bursting at the seams with pride. Alas, now is not the time for football. It sickens me to think how his friends and family are feeling. My thoughts are with them.
Justin Edinburgh. Rest in Peace, sir.
