I think it’s inevitable that the club will naturally present RE ‘s tenure as manager in the most positive light - after all they chose him and in the case of Nigel Travis and Martin Ling especially ,he is very much “ their” man. The “ spin” you refer to in my view comes mainly from the “ unofficial” channels like Dulcet Dave, the Outlook Podcast boys and some of the Orient Hour show panellists. They obviously see things in their own way and maybe try to counteract what they view as negativity/ unwarranted criticism by being too ready to believe that good things are already happening? One thing that appears to have changed is the frequency of Martin Ling’s media outings. At the time of Fletcher’s appointment/ brief reign / sacking he was appearing regularly . That seems to have dwindled.

I was fortunate to watch the game from the balcony on Saturday and we look far more disjointed from up there than from my usual spot in the south stand.
For starters the front three are too far apart most of the time, which as we all saw meant Johnson was isolated. Clay whilst putting in the effort to win the ball back and get involved, just isn't any threat as an attacking midfielder. As for Wright, the game seems to just bypass him in large parts ans I don't see the space Brophy should be getting by being left back. All in all the players don't look like they really know what their position is and we end up playing too compact which means we are easy to defend against.
Just wish Ross would try a different formation, as if anything we have become predictable.

Ross has Jobi and now Brill to offer opinions, both hugely experienced players, plus of course Ling who is available as a de facto consultant. My view is high up, near centre west, which gives a great vantage point and I struggle to see any real joined up football. Tbh I no longer look at formations, given up trying to work out our system. Maybe that’s the Ross tactic for confusing the opposition, it sure as hell confuses me. Confuses the players too perhaps. Maybe why all this backroom talk dont seem to improve us. Predictable in the sense it’s not working. We just don’t seem to be using our squad to best advantage. Turning decent players into incompetents. Give it time and Cisse will join the rubbish club. still, I live in hope that it wil all come together so Ross can say he had it under control all along. All part of his cunning plan.

One word in there that sums it all up perfectly, confusion. Very much seemed to me on Saturday that the players were confused as to the positions they were asked to play.
