i was watching the 1987 cup final today and seeing houchen score that header had me wondering how many ex orient players have actually played in a cup final and could we create a full team of our ex stars ?

Most of our current players played in a cup final last year 😉 But assuming you mean the FA Cup or League Cup final? |

Norman Deeley. I think he played for Wolves when they won the FA Cup. Then moved on to us when we were a decent team.
class player, number 7 if memory serves.

Think Tommy Taylor for Shammers in 75 FA Cup final vs Fulham. Laurie Cunningham in Wimbledon squad that beat Liverpool in the 80's FA cup final. While Laurie in Spain probably played in Spanish Cup finals but need confirmation. |

I’m pretty sure Cliff Hilton appeared in an FA Cup final for Arsenal in the early 50’s. Also Ralph Coates definitely payed for Spurs in the League Cup Final in 1973 vs Norwich and also scored the winning goal I recall.!

Another couple of candidates! Geoff Pike played in the 1980 FA Cup final for West Ham and Mervyn Day played in goal for the Hammers in the 1975 final.

Just remembered Dave Webb playing for Chelsea against Leeds Utd in the FA Cup final ( and replay ) in 1970. I think he also scored the winner ?

I knew it was FA Cup as I was there.Didn't know Houchen played for Orient,though.Till I just checked up....Remember the day well Bennet played a blinder and the left back Mitchell Thomas had another nightmare. |

Ian Bowyer, European Cup and multiple League Cup winner with Nottingham Forest (has an ex Orient player ever won a European trophy after leaving the Os) and Ralph Coates, League Cup and UEFA Cup with Spurs.

Technically some of the names on here were not ex o's when they played in Cup Finals.
Deeley, Lazarus and Shilton hadn't played for the O's yet so they weren't ex players.
Sorry to sound pedantic, but if we are just talking about players who at one time played
for us then I offer David Price and John Boyle whom I think may have played in finals for
Arsenal and Chelsea before they came to us, I may be wrong on that one though!
