Technically some of the names on here were not ex o's when they played in Cup Finals. Deeley, Lazarus and Shilton hadn't played for the O's yet so they weren't ex players. Sorry to sound pedantic, but if we are just talking about players who at one time played for us then I offer David Price and John Boyle whom I think may have played in finals for Arsenal and Chelsea before they came to us, I may be wrong on that one though! Also Geoff Pike and Peter Brabrook for West Ham before they joined us .Mervyn Day? Tony Grealish was an ex O who played in a Cup Final for Brighton? or is my memory playing tricks? All these are FA Cup Finals and in my lifetime watching the O's. Hope we can include Justin Edinburgh (1991 Spurs) & Steve Hodge (1991 Forest). Alvin Martin & Geoff Pike (1980 WHU). Les Sealey (1990 Man Utd), Ray Wilkins (1983 Man U), Tom Taylor, Mervyn Day & Billy Jennings (1975 WHU). Peter Shilton (1969 Leicester), Laurie C (Wimb 1988), Glenn Roeder (1982 QPR), Keith Houchen (1987 Coventry), Bart-Williams (1993 Wednesday), David Peach (1976 Southampton), David Price (1979 Arsenal). Shame we couldn't turn out 11 of those together for the O's in their prime playing days !

Release by the O’s because they thought he was too small correct, wazza ended up over 6 foot tall and went on to play for England albeit 1 cap. Pat Holland released him as he was the youth team boss then. Gary Charles also was with us as a youth player and famously did gazza in the cup final. Although we didn't release him Clough came for him to join their youth team which he took up excitedly. |
