The last (and only!) occasion I saw him play was Wednesday 12th September 1962, that wonderful evening when we beat eventual league champions Everton scoring three goals without reply. At the tender age of nine I really felt that we could make good in the first division after that result....

Happy Birthday to Peter “ Les “ Bennett - 76 today ! Former club captain and one of the stalwarts of the O’s team of the 1970’s. A genuine “ footballer” in the widest sense who would be a contender in any all time O’s first XI imho.

Doesn’t time fly… I was lucky enough to see the Olympic committee presentation video put together by the London Team, presented by Seb Coe. It was bloody good. When I saw it I remember thinking we were in with a real chance. Never warmed to Seb Coe. Aloof, superior. But can’t fault his part in putting the stuff together. |

I enjoyed the Taking Sopranos podcast, Talking Sopranos with Michael Imperioli and Steve Schrippa. They talked about Tony Sirico often, but the best story among many was about him living on his mother’s sofa at 55 years of age, and landing the transformative role of his life. I’m a believer in redemption, and I’m glad he got that chance. |

John Gwynne the voice of darts and a regular on soccer Saturday has passed away aged 77 after a battle with cancer. Darts has lost tow legends behind the mic now.
