Roger Gorringe, obscure to most but he was the chap who perfected motorsports photography via his use of high tech gear and innovative techniques, he consequently filled most of the centre page spreads since 1972 of the mainstream motor sports magazines. A bit of a photo pioneer and, in drag race circles (his favourite subject), something of a legend.  |

Frankly, l have no idea. It's a Don Garlits car but I don't know if it's him driving. Either way, it's at an NHRA event and he didn't travel north in the later years. As this is a night qualifying shot and Roger was there, I'd guess Gainesville. We Euro racers would 'do' the FL race to get some winter sun but our own season started soon after.

I didn't know Andy Carter had a deal with Garlits. Sadly, l never saw a swamp rat in race action. |
