I have read that Orient have given up on insisting the spurs game be replayed and that the e.f.l. have agreed to part compensate us for missing out on a £150,000 tv payment with spurs generously Making up the deficit. Spurs then get a bye, yet on tonight’s sky sports it said that the outcome is yet to be decided. Nothing on the Orients site to clarify. Either way I am more concerned about the longer term effect of the virus on what is virtually our entire squad. My neighbours, both doctors recovered from the virus about 3 months ago and they are both fitness freaks yet they told me that they are breathless upon exertion and this week are both having chest X-rays. I hope I am wrong but the future looks bleak.

I don't know why they're giving up on this, I mean they could (if it's on TV) get another £150,000 against Chelsea, and who knows after that.
Unless they fell a bit short on Covid precautions and just want to let it go, so to speak.

I have also read reports that some people do not shake Covid off but do indeed suffer extended health problems. Scary indeed.

Indeed the future of humanity is bleak. The cursed plague continues unabated to wreak its unholy fickle finger of fate towards all of us regardless of race or creed and its icy touch has now reached the hallowed shores of our own beloved Leyton Orient with devastating and irrefutable consequences of doom and misery.
Nevertheless there is salvation in GOD.
pray now, pray continuously and repent your sins before the rapture is fully upon us.

Cardinal Slofas - you are indeed a mischievous Prelate! I believe you have lifted the above quote directly from the words of High Priest Whitty at his recent meeting of zealots!😇😁👍

A true disciple is the boy Whitty. He has for sure dined at the table of Saint Bethelemy and feasted in the halls of Goadin.
Blessed be his procurements on the vile plague that sweeps through Brisbane Road

During the meanwhilst.... back on Earth, there is a growing fear that Covid sufferers don't all get over it 100% and that some are facing the end of their sporting careers. For the player, that would be a disaster, for the club, a huge loss, for insurance companies: yet another 'act of god' no-payout clause.
Here's a statement from the prestigious Johns Hopkins hospital...
“Once the pandemic is over, there will be a group of patients with new health needs: the survivors. Doctors, respiratory therapists and other health care providers will need to help these patients recover their lung function as much as possible.”

Very tragic but when dealing with acts of God we must remember,
Look down from Your holy habitation, from heaven, and bless Your people Israel, and the ground which You have given us, a land flowing with milk and honey, as You swore to our fathers.’
Deuteronomy 26:15

Unless they fell a bit short on Covid precautions and just want to let it go, so to speak. It’s in the rules that were in place at the start of the competition. I have little doubt that if there were the smallest amount of wriggle room in the rules our experienced Board would have pushed the issue hard. I’m pretty sure it had nothing to do with a lack of willingness to fight on our behalf.

So basically apart from the generosity of the spurs supporters we get nothing and spurs get a free ride into the next round.

I believe that the illness affecting our players indicated symptoms that were not associated with COVID inc vomiting , and surely as the club has 3 doctors they must have sought medical advice . While watching the stream of the Plymouth game I am sure that Dave victor said that Wilkinson was vomiting at the side of the pitch and I haven’t heard anywhere that this is one of the symptoms of COVID among adults. It would be a very contentious precedent to set if one was able to sue someone for unintentionaly and unknowingly infecting you. That said, if some of the players were showing known COVID symptoms and medical advice was not sought it could be argued that the club was negligent.

Vomiting by children is an acknowledged symptom in the U.K. A USA disease control agency say it can also be a symptom in adults. different so called experts have different opinions. Truth is nobody really knows for sure how Covid can manifest itself in all cases, we just know the most common symptoms. Doubt and confusion exist and that is the problem. No doctor, no matter how good, can offer 100% assurances. Neither can 3 doctors or a dozen doctors. Doctors can be wrong. There is uncertainty. The way this uncertainty can be dealt with is by a Covid test, which in itself is not 100% but the best we have. Doing a test is the absolute best the club can do resolve the issue and removes the possibility of criticism. It wasn’t done. The club got it wrong.

I suggest some wishful thinking and a touch of ostrich logic contributed to it. These are extraordinary times and most of us are unaccustomed to dealing with uncertainty or operating where inconsistency and fog are the only guidelines. The club needn't feel lacking in its response, the entire world is stumbling along in a shambolic way and continues to do so.
