Seems from the latter part of the interview as though RE is hoping to be able to bring in at least one new defender to the club next week before the transfer window deadline expuresđđ»

I think that is long overdue.

Apart from giving opposing left-wingers the freedom of Waltham Forest, l am relieved he is looking at defenders. Joe cannot really occupy a central spot and, as good as he is at many things, Dan loses his man too often. Josh Coulson is the most reliable but the quality at FL2 level is showing his lack of pace to be a flaw. Where's Jamie Turley? I'm hopeful he's not sick.

Coulson was dreadful for the first half hour, widdowson was exposed as a centre half and the combination of ling and Wilkinson was ineffective. Johnson was lively but had no service and Mcnuff was really the only player who stood out. In all honesty no more than I expected seeing as the entire squad was decimated by the Chinese virus.

Yet the second half performance was better and Jobi looked extremely fit and up for it. Did they shake off the effects of the virus second half? But spot on. The Wilkinson/Ling combo was rubbish and Widdowson is no CB.

Good interview with Ross and no excuses were trotted out like some expected or hoped. Bearing in mind that the circumstances loaded the odds against us I don't think anyone was "rubbish" I thought they were all terrific considering. Sod's law we lose Ruel for the next two games but I hope he does well for his Country.

I find it mildly irritating when managers explain how external events conspired to cause a poor performance and then, in the next breath, claim they are not using it as an excuse.

Ross was only mentioning facts, he can't say nothing at all in an interview can he? If we get tonked next week and he makes excuses then fair enough but I would say as a rule he tends not to.

Given the chaotic situation brought about by the events of the last 10 days I think there is an argument for cutting the players & RE a bit of slack for Saturdayâs result.- especially as Cheltenham will probably turn out to be one of the teams challenging for promotion this season. The next couple of games will show if that â excuseâ was a genuine one or not. Doesnât alter my opinion that Widdowson is a weak link or that Brophy is better employed further upfield - but there you are!đ

Unfortunately you don't just get the virus, spend 10 days indoors watching the box, and hit top form the day after. I'm hopeful that we'll be in a lot better nick for next Saturday's game. but yes it won't hurt that the defence has been bolstered in the meantime.

It's not as if we haven't been saying this all through the Summer. We need a centre-back and we need a right back. Not one or the other- both

But letâs not forget that finances are extremely tight at the moment and I am assuming the club is haemorrhaging money.

All clubs in League 2 are , I would imagine, having to keep a watchful eye on finances right now and we will certainly be no different. Maybe the Bonne transfer will have a trickle down effect via the sell on clause but any impact on the transfer budget is likely to be minimal. I should think RE and Senda would already be starting to have some concerns about the defensive set frailties though tbh. We have conceded two goals in four of our last five games and that is not a recipe for success. Either the players are not doing their job or the set up is wrong.

Dis, I know you are only trying to be clever but i genuinely don't understand what you are talking about. If you are struggling to understand it then it must be clever. The weight of defending the club from all and any criticism, regardless of how mild it is, is clearly bothering you.

Not really it's just that under the circumstances of Saturday's game a little understanding would not seem too much to ask. Why does anybody who does not attack the club at every opportunity bother you so much?
