As much as I want Orient to pulverise Bees on Saturday and desperately want to hate them,I cant help but feel admiration for the football club. They are full of optimism and have come close to promotion a few times. There chairman is putting a lot of his personal fortune into the club and a brand new ground is on it's way.The manager Mark Warburton has come from nowhere to seamlessly take over the reigns of Uwe Rossler and propel the Bees towards the championship. They are a well run forward looking club who's crowds will undoubtedly get bigger and I cant help feeling a little envious of them. COYO's

I agree with what you're saying, but there's no need for envy of them. I don't have any hatred for them either. A sort of mutual respect i have of them as the Orient of the West, unfortunately competing with Fulham, Chelsea and QPR, like we have to with Spurs, Arsenal and West Ham.
This season at the O's has seen a shift in the crowd from a bunch of pessimists to a pretty positive bunch. Ultimately this comes from performances on the pitch. If we have 3 consistent seasons of being up the top like Brentford have, we'd be full of optimism too.
Our attendances are up (especially away support) and if the truth be told, we don't need a new ground. Griffin Park for all it's quirkiness and old-school football feel is basically a dump and beyond redevelopment. Our ground is modern, neat, tidy and serves it's purpose. If we ever did have to make it bigger i feel that we could (safe-standing maybe?) redevelop.
For all his faults our chairman won't stretch beyond himself and flat refuses to put his personal wealth on the line (would you? I wouldn't) and nobody can blame him for that. I feel that he is doing things the right way, we're organically growing in a time when most clubs are struggling.
The biggest difference between the two is that Brentford *will* get promoted eventually if Benham gets his way. Orient *may* get promoted if we have a good season at some point. It's just a case if Benham can get Brentford promoted before he loses interest or his cash runs out.
Both are well run clubs but with slightly different business models. Sort of like chicken and the egg, Brentford have spent the funds (£5m wage budget, average player on £3k a week) to get promoted, O's (£2m budget, average player on £1,200-1,500 a week) would need promotion before the cash gets spent.

As for the managers.. interesting that neither were players (The Loaf was a teacher / trader and Slade was a teacher / coach for the most part) and goes to show what you can do by actually coaching players and motivating people in the right way. I imagine both managers are surrounded by excellent coaches.
Warburton hasn't really come from nowhere, he was responsible for spending Benham's money on getting their fine players in. It's consistency again that proves to be the winner here, Slade is something like 5th longest serving manager, and if you add up Warburton and Rosler's terms tey'd be around that mark too.

sorry MungO but I think your off target with a couple of points I made. Safe seating; takes up as much space as a normal seat, just folded away and someone standing in that space. Mark Warburton; Yes he is a wise but very inexperienced manager, only 2 jobs, the youth team at Watford and Bees.Takes a brave chairman to appoint such an inexperienced person to take over where other managers have failed. Having said all that I hope he is toast by 14.00 tomorrow.

As i mentioned somewhere else. They're a better team than i gave them credit for.
They've bought (yes bought) some top top players and have an amazingly strong squad. Second only to Wolves in the division. Hence their position at the top.
Still don't think they're much different from the O's in stature and infrastructure though, the only difference is a benefactor. For example they can afford to have three players out on-loan that would probabaly get in our starting XI (El Alagui, Logan & Diagouraga).
Then you've got the ability to source and fund players like: Donaldson, Grigg, Forshaw, Tarkowski, Yennaris. As well as the experience of the rest.
When you compare that to our squad of 15 players it's not surprising the difference.
