A Charlton-supporter friend reckons it has it's roots it the manner of his departure from them. He was doing well then the asset-stripper that owns the club insisted that a new guy of his choice be played (not very successfully so I'm told). Things are all very difficult down there and my mate reckons all left left its mark.
How near the mark this is I don't know but it's forgotten that these guys are people not commodities sometimes. Some people weather those sorts of storms better than others.
I wish him well and when the time is right, a fresh start somewhere.

Sorry but what's his position at Charlton got to do with his career at Orient.
I think it's something must more personal but like the mystery of downed airliner Malaysia MH407 we may never know the truth.

The fact he apologised would indicate it was something he done himself,

If he was forced to leave and then after he'd moved, he might have been advised not to play for legal reasons. I don't know though. Just surmising.

My theory is that he got a rough time from the fans which resulted in dressing room arguments with other players and manager.

It sounded to me like it all got too much....not us....but all that went before Guess we'll never know for sure.

The fact he apologised would indicate it was something he done himself, Not necessarily; he could just be apologising for the inconvenience caused by circumstances beyond his control.

I heard he ate one of Dearden's half time sausage rolls and was too scared to ever go back in the Orient dressing room again.

That's how i read it too. “I’m sorry for how things have worked out but I’d like to thank the Club for their support throughout this time and wish them all the best for the future," added Alnwick. Thanking them for the support would indicate the club helped him with something, I doubt anything at charlton would affect him at orient and for a player to all of a sudden be given leave and then months later and contract ripped up would suggest something is not right

The support could simply be the club being understanding during a difficult time; why the need to imply that he must be in the wrong somehow, rather than just accepting what the club has said ie that an unforeseen circumstance has left him unable to play?

Check out this Charlton Fc Forum - sounds like they loved him and said he was one of the best GKs they ever had and they want to resign him. I hope it works out for him whatever happened. Charlton Life Alnwick Discussion
