I think it's Slade's hypocrisy on this that riles me most; he gets all uppity if the fans criticise the way he manages, but he's happy enough to criticise the way the fans support. How is that reasonable?

Let's not go overboard. I like Slade and his outspoken Yorkshire views and I accept that the Orient crowd are not the most positive. However, a manager should NEVER EVER turn against the fans as that is the last resort of a desperate man. Slade is very happy to applaud us when we sing Russell Russell song but the team play like sh't he should be apologising to the people who have come out on a cold Tuesday night and payed good money. Does he think his job is secure for life?

I am one of those fans and have been for 65 years so I guess that entitles me to express my viewpoint. Russell, it wasn't me that sent back Loza after leaving his obvious talent on the sidelines. I didn't sign lasimant, simpson, gorman, ness, bartley , you did. Why take talent on loan like loza and coulthirst , who looked dynamite in their brief appearance if you are going to ignore them. Brentford play 3 loanees in their side. If we are going to play hoofball,as we have for the last couple of months then surely we need a big strong target man. There is a distinct lack of pace in the side with only odubajo and batt capable of outpacing defenders yet we keep knocking balls long in the hope that mooney or lisbie can get on the end of them. As teams suss out our predictable play and close down cox and odubajo we are left clueless. As football has a habit of making fools out people , I hope this post comes back to bite me in the backside.

'Difficult to lift the team on Saturday vs Bradford'
Have a laugh Russell, if we have aspirations of going up the there shouldn't be a problem with lifting the team, unless he has already signalled this season has been a success regardless of how it ends,

I agree with Slade - the "fans" who booed them off were totally wrong imho. what he and the team have achieved this season as a whole is magnificent and this should not be forgotten In any "normal" season 76 points with 7 games to go would pretty much guarantee a top 2 position at this stage. Going up via the play-offs will be better than finishing in the top 2 and financially better too. Wembley here we come!!

There was a very small ripple of booing, It barely registered, The whole game Russell stood arms crossed...he wasn't once encouraging the players like he should be in that situation... Yes, the atmosphere was dreadful, but so was the football played out on the pitch.
I like Russ, best manager we've had in my 27 years going, but as a person I'm not so sure, I've heard people shout constructive criticism before and Russ just turns round and swears at them, if they were shouting abuse, then fair enough. He's a terrible loser is Russ.
As for the match, as has been mentioned really, we were awful, James and Mooney particularly so... Moons needs to be rested now, don't think we have that option with James for Saturday though. Would love to see Batt if fit start.

This is focussing on 3 lines in the entire statement. I didn't go last night and listened to half, it sounded dreary. Saturday was dispiriting from the start. Whatever the problems, thoughts, opinions about the reasons for the downturn, booing at the match, in front of the opposition (fans and players) is shabby and disloyal behaviour. It contributes nothing and is not in my mind compatible with the term "supporter" in any sense. If people want to have a bitch and a moan then the pub and the forums are the place to do it, if people are bothered to attend a match then put your public face on and get behind your team. Not directing this to any of the posters on thread but imagine...if you are on a pitch, on a stage or in an orchestra....if those who profess to want your success boo you (or walk out before you finish) is that REALLY going to spur you forward?

Oh Deary this seems to be spiralling into a meltpot of big poop poop now Apparantly Hearn has put his Pennies worth in via twitter now and saying he does not need the boo boys etc from last night Hmm coming from the man who give how many thousand season tickets away to get bums on seats I don't personally approve of booing the Team etc but we are all different and vent our frustrations however we feel fit but all of us have one thing in common we do pay to go watch Orient(apart from the freebies obviously)and they are not a Business to us but the Club we love Thing is we are 3rd not 23rd and it's been a great season so far Hopefully a big line will be drawn through all this ASAP ready for Saturdays game vs Bradford and normal service will resume and 3 points in the bag COYOS

Russell Slade once agained blamed the faithful fans who turned up and paid money to watch that sh#t. Slade: Fans are to blameHe needs to look at his tactics rather than blame the Orient faithful in my opinion. I can see both sides of the argument. At every home game I have attended this season (12) we have been well and truly out shouted and out sung by the visiting supporters. Our support for our team when playing at home is at best half hearted. On the other hand I pay to be entertained, if this does not happen I reserve the right to show my displeasure. Mind you its not the British way to complain is it?

I have been an Orient supporter for too many years and rarely miss a game. It never has never been the fans style to give great vocal support and if the players and Russ want that they will be disappointed. Back in the 60s when music and TV celebrities supported Orient there was a song and music specially written for the O's, if I remember it was called "A Grand ol' Shirt they Wear" or that was the chorus. It was advertised, song sheets given out and played over the p.a. and the fans - well just took the pee. Sorry Russ but Orient fans are not like northerners or welsh - we don't sing - we moan. That is East London style.

Just to clarify, I didn't boo, I just moaned all the way home. Eldin has made saves that won us points , but god knows why he watched that lob going in instead of stopping it, so I moaned. Hoofball yet again, so I moaned. Full backs who defend well but never overlap , so I moaned. That's my right, I have earned it by supporting the club since 1950 , and god willing I will be here moaning long after slade has departed.

I'm along the lines of people pay there money week in week out, it's not cheap to go watch Leyton orient so they can do what they want, the paying customer has every right to. CHere or boo or do whatever they want.
Talking about crowds, gees there is so grumpy old tarts in the family end, telling off the young kids last night who where playing the drums, it's funny. Those kids in 5 mins made more noise then that whole stand has made all season.

You know what, one person with a lousy voice sounds like crap, but 500 people with lousy voices sounds in tune. The point being that thousands of fans are not all stupid. Anyone who saw that brief cameo of Loza and Colthirst could see that they were a class above that normally seen at our level , yet slade refused to play them. Teams now know the way slade rigidly sets his formation up , knowing our full backs never cross the halfway line , that we try to get the ball up front quickly and not play through midfield and they now counter that. The end product is that we are now playing hopeful long balls to a pairing of probably the shortest and slowest strikers in the division instead of playing to their feet, and to their strengths. Slade has done really well on a low budget , that said , he has been fortunate that 'big' teams like Coventry, Sheffield untd, Bristol city have not been in the mix, but a flaw in his character is his stubbornness. Remember when he persisted with the diamond formation when the whole world and his aunt could see it was not working.
