This YouTube channel seems to manage to get hold of these old long lost football film memories of the past.
Here is the story of this match which I have copied and pasted from the video. Just click where it says watch on YouTube !
''This video has been uploaded by ''theheavyroller
The top two sides in the Second Division meet at Brisbane Road and in the crowd are show biz celebrities Arthur Askey and Cliff Richard (then enjoying chart success with The Young Ones). The teams look almost identical in the bright spring sunshine - Liverpool, kicking left to right, having the dark tops to their socks and a stripe down their shorts. Pictures not of the highest quality unfortunately. Former Wolves forward Norman Deeley nearly gives the O's the lead, but Jim Furnell saves well. Malcolm Graham does put them ahead just before the interval, cutting inside Ron Yeats before scoring with an excellent shot from the edge of the box (1-0). Half time. Orient have further chances but with ten minutes to go hesitancy in their defence allows Alan A'Court to equalise (1-1). Minutes later they regain lead with a sensational strike from full back Eddie Lewis - his only goal of the season (2-1). Liverpool rescue a point when Jimmy Melia, Ian St John and Roger Hunt combine to set up a chance for A'Court who scores with an accurate low shot, in off the post. Final score 2-2 and both sides were promoted at the end of the season.''

Have to stop looking back like that. Another game I witnessed. Great days, but so long ago. Us playing Liverpool in the league, and competing well, won’t happen again. Ever.

Yes, watched ( well as best I could) this last night . Great memories albeit a bit clouded by the mists of time! I really didn’t recall Gordon Bolland or Bill Taylor playing in the game so Dave Dunmore, Derek Gibbs and Ronnie Foster must all have been injured. I did remember Eddie Lewis’ free kick though. Went like a rocket!😁👍

for the last hour, I have been busy working on the brakes on my car, got the rear brake hubs off and inspecting the brake shoes, cleaning dust out etc, so just having a break, cup of tea and a cheese roll, so watching this video and got up to the point where Malcolm Graham puts the Os 1-0 in the lead, nicely taken goal that one ! Go back to finish the job now and I will watch the second half in around an hours time !

I looked him up on Wikipedia and sure enough he joined us from Chelsea in March 1962, so being as this match was played on 17th March 1962, seems like this must have been one of the first games that Gordon played for us !

Big crowd watching this game wasnt it ! I looked up the match details and the attendance was 25,880 ! WOW, doubt that attendance will ever be equaled at any Os home game in the future, even if we did somehow make a move to a new football stadium ?

Stan Charlton sliding tackles, a feature in those days. His timing must have been good.

Unless my mind is playing me tricks ( I was only 14 years old at the time ) pretty sure that quite often Stan he had this knack of somehow coming out of those sliding tackles with the ball held firmly between his two feet, never seen any other player be able to do that !
Can anyone else recall seeing that ?

Can anyone else recall seeing that ? I can remember that great goal he scored against Mexico in the 66 World Cup not to mention the two against Portugal in the semifinal 👍🙈

I didn’t know that Den, so thanks for the info. Always liked Bolland as a player and he went on to have a decent career over a good few years. Yes I also liked him. Skinny young player when he first joined us, very skillful forward and I recall that he had a very hard shot. Bolland had so much potential and I was really gutted when he left us so early in his football career. Looking at my Os history book, he joined us from Chelsea in March 1962 for a fee of £8000, also played in our one season in the First Division and in the following season in Division Two, he was the leading Os goal scorer on 17 goals and ( unfortunately) left in March 1964 for Norwich for a fee of £31,500. Although I was young at the time, it made me realize that when and if Orient had good young players, then if a good bid came in, they would be sold. This pattern would be repeated time and again since and to this day, nothing much has changed !
