Did anyone watch ‘Threads’ on BBC4, still on now. Only the fourth time it’s been on TV. I’ve got it on DVD and still terrifies the life out of me.
Not as much as Cannibal Holocaust or the ending of the Wicker Man, but this is a docu drama.

I don't watch BBC,used to love Horizon,Connections with James Burke and Jonathan Meades on architecture.Saw some months ago Jonathan Meades on Essex.A really good watch from an older Meades, but still done in his original style. That was on you tube my go to tv station. So many greats from the old BBC,Civilisation,The Ascent of Man with Jacob Bronowski, anything with the eccentric professor Heinz Wolfe, but now zilch.

Period piece well acted what a time that was the 60's Collieries closing, police corruption, social unrest sounds familiar?

England playing the Greeks. Pickford could be worse than Hemmings and Gordon is not an International footballer.

Intricate passing, high press, no central striking option and can easily be undone by pace on the break. Where have I seen this before 🤔

Poor England performance so far. Cannot moan about being a goal down. The end of Carsley shortly.

Poor England performance so far. Cannot moan about being a goal down. The end of Carsley shortly. Strange decision by Carsley to play without a striker, when he had two options in Watkins and Solanke on the bench. That decision may well have cost him the chance to be full time England manager as you suggest.

Plus Stones is not a captain and Bellingham is arrogance personified

Lucky me. I switched off early in the second half. Rubbish from England. Then on again at 90 minutes to see the game out. Just in time to see the winner go in. Oh dear.

Meanwhile, Home Alone will 'grace' the Fisch TV again this xmas, just as it has done all the previous times. 😐 Cultural desert here at times. Does it show the Freddie Frinton short film that is on German TV RTL (or was) every year.I used to watch it when Sky was analogue and picked up some good stuff from Germany including Champions League football and other games.

I got a free DVD from a newspaper years ago. A Christmas Carol with Patrick Stewart. Every year since I dust it off and watch it, several times. The best version in my opinion. Not Christmas without it.

Over the past weeks, the Gentlemen Series on Netflix. It’s ridiculous and fun. I haven’t seen the movie, so that will be next and I’ve heard it’s great. Also Bloodline on Netflix which started well but it’s peaked and ebbed.
My wife insisted we watch Boogie Man The Lee Atwater Story last night. I’m sure I’ve mentioned it and him before now. It’s about the guy that started the whole modern mess with modern American politics. He went to college in my hometown, and uprooted our state politics and then got Bush Sr. elected. Atwater was the head of the GOP in his early thirties.
It’s a Great Gatsby type story. I don’t mean that in a good way although I love that book. Pure nihilistic ambition of an outsider who wanted to be in with the powerful. If you are interested in learning about the dark alley, ugly and plain mean part of American politics, and how a young man could rise so quickly in our politics to the very top, then that documentary will be enlightening. It’s really good, but incredibly depressing at the same time. It’s available on YouTube and worth the watch.

Doesn't ring any bells here Red. Dinner for one was it? Not familiar with the title but that does sound like it.He was the butler to a rich lady who laid a table for guests who were dead,at every chair at the table he had to drink a toast to those deceased. He went around the table many times getting more drunk at every toast.Sounds a bit dated and if you have a sense of humour it gets funnier and funnier. On reflection I believe it was shown every new years eve around 11 pm to put people in the right spirit for the new year celebrations.
