At 7pm this evening at our home ground at Buckhurst Hill, LOFC Women take on the American touring 'soccer' team from Muhlenberg College of Allentown, PA. If you do nothing else this evening, click HERE to see how our links with the USA are bringing our "little" club into the international arena.

Now I have the Billy Joel song Allentown in my head. Paradise by John Prine too, but that has nothing to do with the college. What a great opportunity for both the college and the Lady O’s. Good luck to the women’s team.

I will add that Muhlenberg is a NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) Division 3 school, which means that they do not offer athletic scholarships for the student athletes. There is likely other forms of financial aid available, but in general, players in Division 3 play for the love of the game. They train just like scholarship players, and travel like scholarship players, but do not receive direct athletic aid. It takes real dedication to the sport to play at that level.

The next pre-season game before the season opener at Buckhurst Hill on 3rd September is an away fixture at Colchester Utd. They have a long and successful history in the women's game with a number of trophies to boast about. However, it all came to an end about 18 months ago and so they did not compete during the 2022/23 season. That's now changed and they are back with a big impetus. Read about the situation at the LOFC Women's website

The last pre-season match has been completed, a nice 7-2 victory over a returning women's team at Colchester Utd. Now it's back to work on the training field until the opening match in the Premier League on September 3rd. As coach Danny martin put it:- " Proud of how they have worked in pre season, just a couple of weeks until the season kicks off."

David Madell, organiser for the U18 women's team at LOFC advises: "We have a pitch booked for Tuesday Aug 22 at 7pm. We invite any u18s team or Ladies (tier 7 or lower) that fancy a game, please contact me on 07949-069763. We are Leyton Orient and our team were all u16s last season, u18s this coming season." So, if you know of such a group, please give David a call. Head coach of the senior women's team, Danny Martin, has posted a short video clip of shooting practice a day or so ago, to view the YouTube clip, click on the link below: As always, more info is available on the LOFC Women's web pages at LOFC Women Latest News

.....premier league? I thought we were way down the pyramid? Could you expand my knowledge a little please? Sorry Thor, l forgot to answer your earlier question. Tier 1 - WSL womens super league Tier 2 - WC womens championship Tiers 3&4 - FA regional leagues, north, midlands, SW & SE. (2 divs). Tiers 5&6 - FA area leagues, about 8 of them with 2 divs. Tiers 7&8 - County leagues, lots of them, each with 2 divs, one called "premier" where we are this year, the other called "Div one" which we won last year. Our county league is the GLWFL, Greater London Women's Football League, the premier division is the strongest of all the tier 7 leagues. There are dozens of local, development and age restricted leagues up and down the country.

The website dedicated to the Leyton Orient Women's team now has it's own domain name. The site can now be found just by using: lofcwomen.com That link will take you to the latest news page, there's a link to the results - fixtures - standings page, there will be other links once we get the development underway. You can also email the admin direct at info@lofcwomen.com The first post on page 1 of this thread has been updated accordingly.

Apologies if this has already come up (possibly in last season's thread), but is there a reason why women's team news needs its own site? Why not the main club site? (I seem to remember at least some info on it last season.)
I appreciate what you do, Fisch. Not a Twitter user, so it was nice to be able to follow a successful season for the ladies here, albeit before I was an active member of the forum.

Not a Twitter user, so it was nice to be able to follow a successful season for the ladies here, albeit before I was an active member of the forum. l just assumed Luke Lambourne and his bosses considered the women's team to be too far down the pecking order to make much in the way of news items on the main site. I agree in the sense that there's virtually no commercial value in doing so, at least not yet. Col utd have just re-started their women's team and they also use a separate site for it. I'm in touch with a couple of players and insiders but they mostly use twitter/X for news but, even then, detail is thin on the ground at best and so many people don't use X so little info is actually disseminated. We'll have to see what the new press guy does once he's settled in. I'm also aware of the folks who do the podcasts/radio that they find getting info about the women's team something of a nightmare. I have a real interest in it but l half suspect the club may tell me to sod off. If they do, l will drop it.

(I seem to remember at least some info on it last season.) It took the club four days to report on the U18's match Saturday but without the line up so the womens team behind them in the pecking order.
