Darren Pratley is one of my favourite O's players who i think has been an exceptional signing for us.He is fantastic at doing all the horrible stuff that nobody else can do but is an essential part of seeing out games and its not a coincidence that we very rarely concede late goals in games when he's on the pitch.Club captain and a great influence on our young squad I'd keep him next season if he wants to play in a heartbeat what do others think

I would keep him too. His legs are not 'going', and he keeps himself very fit, so its a yes

In a cold business oriented view, do DP's costs bring enough added value compared to investing those costs elsewhere? That a big part of real management - not easy.

Yes. It's such a young squad and you'd expect Moncs and Thompson to move on in the summer. I don't think we can afford to lose more experience than that tbh. If Prats thinks he can still give 20 mins a week off the bench then that's enough for me.

Yes and I'd do it without hesitation. He has been superb this season without doubt.

A very loud yes,how well he managed the situation when he came on in the Bolton match.Took the nerves from the game and knew how to draw the time wasting fall.The younger players are better with Darren playing in those situations.But maybe he has other things in mind.

why I'm interested in your views as to why you wouldn't re-sign him. He has been a bit part player this L1 year and frankly I think a 39 year old is unlikely to get either better or fitter. Obviously RW knows more about his value to the team than I but personally I think we need to move on next season. |

Depends on his wages. We need a player who is capable of doing a full season if circumstances dictate. I doubt DP is that player. Him and Brown seem to job share. Time for Brown to take over and use the freed up wages to bolster the squad elsewhere.
He’s been a really good player for us but the signs are there that his game is way below his best these days. And when he plays it’s bits here and there. Great to have on the bench but like I said, depends on his wages. If he becomes an expensive bit-Part player then that does nobody any favours.

Wellens likes to rotate his squad during games and having Pratley coming on to close things down after 60 minutes is invaluable.
He is the master of the dark arts and all of our midfielders can learn from him, consummate professional that he is.
Definitely worth having around the squad for another 12 months.

I think he's on 3.4k a week, which isn't massive. Would probably be reduced somewhat too, unless he takes on a coaching role as well. |

Yes, he is a fantastic example to the younger members in our club and hopefully will go onto doing some coaching with his experience . You just can’t buy that !

He replaced Prats when he was ill then injured, Brown did well and kept his place until he ran out of steam. Now Prats replaces him like a close out pitcher in baseball. His experience and leadership is still good enough for this league and Brown among others can learn a lot from a player of Prats stature. |
