Yo. I thought Derby C did the pre match build up really well yesterday and it made me think, what we could we do to improve? The drummers by the pitch is a great idea. I really liked the video with the poem ‘we are Derby’ plus their choice of pre match music was far better than ours, which hasnt changed since about 1881.
We could easily do the drummer thing and Im sure there’s poetry bestowing the virtues of East East East London (if there isnt then Im sure we could get one written).
Ive often thought that the pre match music is genuinely terrible. That makes such a difference. Perhaps we could have a fan thing where a fan could pay to sponsor and choose a pre match playlist?

Maybe we could sort the terrible sound system out first as the speaker I've got playing in the garden is better!
I did like that poem and seven nation army sounded good.

Agreed..Nearly every season there’s mention of a new sound system, followed by,”it’ll take more of the budget than we imagined “

Something better at half time than that lame thing where toddlers try and kick a ball towards Theo and nobody is watching anyway.
The US does much better stadium entertainment with prize guns shooting loot into the crowd and interactive kiss cams or look a like cams.

The general gist I get is that unless there is some kind of return on the outlay, then it's not on the clubs agenda.

I'm probably wrong because I wasn't there, but it struck me that Derby's ground was very large, grand and uniform looking. Basically a modern professional set up for a team heading for the Premier. My daughter said that it reminded her of the Emirates Stadium.
I prefer the rough and tough of Brisbane Road frankly; the variable stands, the creaky turnstiles, the friendly programme sellers, the mad queues for tea, beer and hotdogs, the crumbling team announcements and the pizza bike. Anything more posh would bring to mind Roy Keane and his prawn sandwiches.
Pass the fizz Richard.

I do as well, but I prefer crab salad sandwiches. Nevertheless, when are they going to offer them at the Orient bars?

I like this comment.I was musing this morning about the end of season lap of honour by the team.Maybe more should be involved, maybe those that sit at the turnstiles in all kinds of weather in that pokey little space for a few hours or so before every match. All involved on our great matchday deserve the praise of all. As for entertainment before the match there is always the teams warming up,and for the real poppy show the matchday officials, one can see what the ref is going to be like by their antics during said warm up.There are some real show offs amongst them.My favourite is when they do the knees up. Also we could have as well as Theo someone dressed up as a jellied eel to show our East London ways.

Give me a modern ground and decent facilities every time. It’s the way forward. At some point we will do the same. Brisbane Road offers a poor match day experience. The club try their best, fair play, but it’s poor.
A venue best suited to the past and not the future.

Nominate a few billionaires who will join the board and we could possibly have that new ground.Personally dohnut I truly love matchday at Brisbane Road, save when it is really cold.Others obviously feel disappointed of whats on offer.

Its not the venue for me that needs the first level of improvement. With some simple inexpensive tweaks, I think we can greatly improve the whole experience. Im sure its something our owners will be looking at.

I’m genuinely curious about things the club does to get kids excited to come to the games and especially excited to come back. I know board member Nick Semaca is an owner of a minor league baseball club in the US, and I am sure he understands the importance of getting kids more interested in the club and the park. The minor league teams work hard and creatively to make a park as kid friendly as possible.
Last night, we attended our local team’s game and our kids had a great time regardless of whether they were into sitting and taking in a game of baseball. It was bring your dog night at the park, and the club also had tons of in between innings contests like hula hoop toss, kid friendly trivia, sing alongs (as per Red Sox tradition), and Heaven of Heaven in their minds the kids got to run the bases on a real professional and immaculate baseball diamond. Although my kids are very into football, two of them were out after dark in our back yard playing baseball, and one went to sleep with his Greenville Drive cap on.
Leyton Orient is certainly not minor league I know. The minor league teams here have a lot of freedom to do some pretty interesting things that the major do not have to do. I’m a streamer and a far away fan, so I have not been to Brisbane Road yet, and I also have not seen discussion on this forum about getting kids interested, so I though I would ask. What does the club do to get the kids who aren’t super in to football to want to come back to Brisbane Road?

I agree that Derby did a great job of creating atmosphere and anticipation, helped by a top notch PA system. I don't get to many home games these daysbut do see a lot of games as an away supporter, and in League 1 the pre match and HT entertainment varies from the mundane to the (occasionally) reasonably engaging. I don't know whether anyone here remembers but back in the day Hull City were the masters of HT entertainment - the Hull City 'giants' (pic attached) racing the length of the pitch at speed, channelling It's A Knockout. And the 'Win A Conservatory' competition - kids had to try kick a football through a hole in a wooden board covering the goal, like a fairground kinda thing. The prize was a conservatory. It was hard to achieve but one 6 yo actually managed it and his dad was cock-a-hoop thrilled and did a lap of honour with the kid on his shoulders, to the applause of the crowd, home and away. Ok you probably had to be there and it was of its time, and the giants in particular were a little bit surreal, but the point is that it was imaginative and got the crowd interested. Attachments:

The club try their best, fair play, but it’s poor. A venue best suited to the past and not the future. I don't think it offers a poor match day experience. We're close to the pitch, there's not too many swanky rich people dribbling from their personal guest boxes, there's a decent closeness about the crowd and with the pitch. Wouldn't a modern ground and probably ("probably") higher prices be too much for some of our loyal supporters who wouldn't be able to afford it? I suppose there can be some improvements though I can't think of too many.
