DIVISION 2 1963/1964 December 1st Leyton Orient 1:1 Norwich City. Gordon Bolland got a late-ish equaliser. The noise, colour, passion and the roar of the crowd were all new experiences for me - hooked immediately and have suffered ever since

Remarkable but not surprising family achievement. The praise belongs to the wise family member who went to the O's 100 years ago and blessed future generations with that wisdom.

Dont know what year it was when my father started supported the Os, but I do know it was when they were ''Clapton Orient and he often talked of seeing the legendary Arthur ( fatty ) Woods playing in goal for them. He played for them from 1921 to 1931 and they played at the stadium at Millfields Road.

Although lost marvelled at Stan Charlton tackles a sight to behold.

Happy memories of that place, I was brought up in Millfields Terrace, prefabs just a 100yds from there, sadly Orient were already at Brisbane Road by then. Got to see inside the stadium a few times and had the potential to be a really decent football ground. But alas never happened.

Great story,my family hailed from Islington and most were Arsenal,my dad was from Clerkenwell and supported Spurs.I never thought of taking him to an Orient match but I wished I had.The type of regret that can never be put right.

Great shame we couldn't stay at millfields.I'm sure our stature would've been much higher through our history. It was madness building a grandstand there when we didn't own the freehold. We were still making payments for it when we'd left and playing at Lea bridge

We were still making payments for it when we'd left and playing at Lea bridge Woolwich Arsenal should never have been allowed to settle in North London so near Clapton Orient and Spurs.Another reason to dislike Arsenal. I wonder what attendances they had in SE London.Charlton and Millwall must have been pleased when they left.

I well remember Bob Hardisty winning the FA amateur cup with Bishop Auckland in the middle to late fifties 55-57.He was a national figure.
This should have been posted on the Walthamstow thread.

I'd love to live in one of the flats overlooking the ground a few mates over on match days with a few cold beers at hand no travelling involved right up my street

Early-mid 90s. I'm not entirely sure who we played. It was 1-0, but I forget who to. I only remember the opposition goalkeeper swinging from the crossbar, which was a feat only beaten in its magnificence by how high my dad could boot a ball into the air (I'm adamant he once almost hit an aeroplane). After a bit of sleuthing I think the game must've been our 1-0 home win against Blackpool in 92/93. Ya young whipper snapper, now when I was a lad back in the 50's .........?
