Rather harsh and not accurate view on JG What do you expect a version of Steve Coppell or Steve Heighway in this division. Orient once bought a flying winger in Dougie Allder from mill wall he had one great game was interviewed in ITV with Brian Moore in the big match then he disappeared into oblivion. Not one of Petchey's finest signings and we lost Fairbrother and Brisley to Millwall. Neither wanted to leave us. Agreed I still remain disappointed that both BF and TB were swapped for Alder. TB played for many games for millwall after Alder was gone from orient. BF was everyone’s favourite striker too.

If we need a striker from lower down Harry Smith scored 14 in 42 for a relegated team. 1:3 ratio. And some height up front too. CDAJ.

Doug allder is quoted as saying he disliked his time at orient from day one.possee was signed by chairman Winston when petchey was on holiday against his wishes.possee said in south london press orient ruined his love of the game I feel .we could never get the best out of him as he was up to his neck in mud on our pitch so often!

Wouldn’t surprise me to see Charlie Kelman back again. He’s only 22, RW likes him and he doesn’t seem to fit in at QPR. hope not as he will not score the goals required to get us anywhere near a play off berth. We got away with his inability to score in league 2 as the midfield and defence were scoring lots of goals. Last in league 1 that stopped so it's important the centre forward scores as the failure behind him to contribute makes it even harder. We can't rely in 1 nil wins to get us 3 points. Definitely this . Spot on .

Our summer recruitment last season was excellent Agyei Graham and Forde were all fantastic additions just a pity about the injuries but with similar recruitment this season plus the signing of O'Neil and Simpson i truly believe it we'll have a very exciting and entertaining team and that's all you can ask for really IMO

He turned out a total disaster signing and it amazes me those post reports after he has taken his salary and gone I read somewhere he is working at Gatwick airport as a Porter or security - well I hope he now realises how fortunate he was to get paid for kicking a ball about and be less critical of orient.

Yeah allder was a baggage handler at heathrow, retired now. I was angry when I read the possee remark as he played out his contract 74-77 took our money and slagged us off.charming

I saw that and thought could be a decent signing. The Barnsley forum seems to think they're the club linked. Very possibly . I’ve seen Burton Albion, Lincoln, Wrexham & Rotherham all mentioned in connection as well.!🫤

We have to wait for others to take the best of what’s going and then look for hidden gems amongst what’s left. We got a couple of decent players last year. No reason to believe we won’t do the same this year. All I would say is for F-Sake don’t bank on a good January.

Re possee..exactly.we played villa in '75 on the big match, the mud was horrific. Possee was an unused sub as petchey prob thought he'd disappear under! Cunningham got chopped down, sat in the liquid mud, shook his head and ran off with an entire brown kit

Cunningham got chopped down, sat in the liquid mud, shook his head and ran off with an entire brown kit The noise the players boots made squelching about in the mud was a joy.The rumour was that the water used to rise through the pitch as well as the wet from the rain. The first match of the season with an almost fully grassed pitch was always a pleasure wondering how early it would turn to mud.

Assuming we are talking about the same player. So they are stepping up their squad perhaps.

I always admired Barrie’s effort and determination and who can forget that winning goal against Chelsea but he wasn’t the greatest finisher tbh. 40 goals in around 190 games tells you that. As for Terry Brisley, I have no idea if he was “ offered a financial inducement” to leave but Petchey definitely didn’t see him as part of his long term plans. As I recollect he was sent out on loan to Southend even before the Millwall deal was on the cards.👍

Petchey had his favourites especially his palace players he brought in and Allen as they travelled from Brighton by train together to Leyton. Brisley didn't like him,can you imagine it he was now at Millwall his boyhood team happy as Larry, and petchey became manager there early 1978.within two weeks he was transfered to charlton

Talking of managers and their favourites ,I can tell you for a fact that Jimmy Bloomfield was never sold on Peter Allen.

Only just seen this thread. Been reading it, and i cant believe some of what I've read
The boarders who think Jordan Graham is crap........WHAT !!!!!!!!!
He's probably the best quality player at the club....I love the guy. We missed him soooooooooooooo much
Im hoping he's regained fitness after that nasty injury, and we'll see him tormenting defences like he did before the injury
