Talking of managers and their favourites ,I can tell you for a fact that Jimmy Bloomfield was never sold on Peter Allen. so one of them must have told you that? What was the reason why? Ability? Attitude? Fitness?

Neither told me and I doubt it was anything personal but It was apparent that JB was often quite quick to criticise Peter Allen whereas he would let others - similar- faults go by the board. My comment was based upon my distant recollections of my year and a bit at the club as an associate schoolboy (70-71) . There was also an article some years back in which Peter himself said he felt JB never “ fancied” him as a player. Personally I think Bloomfield got that one wrong, but there you are!

Agreed I still remain disappointed that both BF and TB were swapped for Alder. TB played for many games for millwall after Alder was gone from orient. BF was everyone’s favourite striker too. Both Fairbrother and Brisley were offered a financial inducement by Orient to go to Millwall, We needed the transfer fee, big time. The financial inducement came in cash.
