Saw him at Ipswich a few times ,very promising at first but slipped down their pecking order with good competition for places . I suppose it depends on how much his wage would be .

Probably just click bait.
Tends to go missing in games, not sure that's a RW player.
Rather we sign Payne if we are going for someone in midfield.

Re: Bakinson, the rumour is from a pretty good source ( Pete O’ Rourke) so I wouldn’t be surprised if there is something in it. Seen a different rumour that we ( amongst others) are interested in Gillingham midfielder George Lapslie.🤔

Re: Bakinson, the rumour is from a pretty good source ( Pete O’ Rourke) so I wouldn’t be surprised if there is something in it. Seen a different rumour that we ( amongst others) are interested in Gillingham midfielder George Lapslie.🤔 Lee Bowyer said this "With my players now, I’d never tell them not to compete. Not to tackle. At Charlton, we had a player called George Lapslie, who reminds me a bit of Scott Parker. He’s everywhere on the pitch. Tackling; competing for everything. You just have to try and control it. Guide him. But you can’t take that edge away from someone. It’s something that’s instilled in you. Some players haven’t got that competitive side, so you need to look after the ones who do – they’re just as valuable as your striker or your winger."

Interesting words.
Redintheface what's your view on him as a player? I know the name, but couldn't comment on his ability etc. But what Bow said its quite good.

Haven't seen Bakinson or Lapslie play but on paper:
Bakinson's tall and we could use more height in the team. Is he strong too? Also doesn't pick up many cards. Is he disciplined or does it reflect a tendency to not get stuck in? He's free, has bags of experience for just 25, and a good season for him could result in a nice wedge for the club.
Lapslie's goal involvements are good, although took a dip last season (3 goals and an assist in 36 games). And it's in League 2. He hasn't played at this level for 5 years and would cost a fee. Also seems like he's more of a 10, maybe an 8. I don't think that's a priority for us tbh.
Maybe someone more informed can confirm, counter, or elaborate on some of that 🤷

If he wasn't from Waltham Forest I'm not sure Lapslie would've figured in an O's transfer rumour. Was transfer-listed by the Gills at the end of last season so not much of a recommendation there. I'd expect us to be aiming higher.

My Gills mate firmly believes all is not well over in Kent, the owner is apparently micro-managing and upsetting everyone, they all want out. I'd take Lapslie, he's a class player and would shine at a properly run football club.

Pre-season still 4 weeks away. 6 weeks to Spain. Far too soon to wondering about bringing in any of the 5/6 players Richie says he needs, plenty of time. But it’s nice we figure in rumours. A bit of interest in an otherwise slow football time.

Laspslie sounds interesting, full of energy.possibly could be used in different roles too. I'm wondering about moncur.I'd like him to stay but unless its medical he must get fit and play.Tommy Taylor would've fined hell out of him for being overweight. Otherwise a loan swap for chilvers of Colchester.another talented one.

Having the squad together for Spain is essential. RW has been very clear on the need for a good preseason and a faster start than last time. Ideally mostly sorted before the friendlies already fixed up, which start In 4 weeks. But history tells us that is unlikely. Not holding one’s breath springs to mind.

Stay positive dohnut, Nigel said lessons have been learned and we've listened to Ritchie. Give the club the opportunity to find the improvements they've accepted need to happen.
Onwards and upwards.

My tone towards recruitment has definitely softened. I don’t believe we shall enter pre-season in a poor state as far as key players are concerned. But, and it’s a big but, I will be delightfully gobsmacked if we are fully sorted before preseason, even before Spain. I sincerely hope to be proven wrong. But I don’t think I will be. We wait and see.

Interesting comment fisch,I think a lot of this is going on in lower league football.inevitable some teams are going to go the same way as Bury who incidentally missed out on promotion in the play off final in tier seven, maybe one lower. But anyway the club is back as a football club and are endeavouring to claim back their League status.
