Rotherham have been relegated and likely need to replace half a squad that wants to leave to keep playing Championship football. A lot of their signings probably won't even make a starting 11. In comparison, we need to upgrade in 3 or 4 positions. I'd highly recommend some of our fans get over their pathetic obsession with Steve Evans.

Those who were o's fans 15 or so years back should not forget when Evans was Boston manager, and ling was our manager.we beat them with a late goal.martin held out his hand as the final whistle blew,Evans ignored him completely. And was quoted as saying ' I hate ling with a passion, and I hate Leyton orient with a passion'. But the sight of his Ill fitting Wembley suit trousers nearly falling down was a sight to behold when Rotherham beat us on pens in 2014

Good manager is Evan’s ,knows how to wind people up 😜😀 Certainly seems to work with some people in this forum!😆😆👍 Depends on what you mean by winding people up. I’ve too many unhappy memories coming up against Evans and it doesn’t help that for a number of reasons I just don’t like the man. So his success winds me up. However It’s hard not to recognise his success and his ability to get things done. I looked at Stevenage when he first joined. Was impressed with his signings straight away and they proved to be very effective. Annoys me they did better than us last season too. He is a guy that knows what he wants and seems to back his own judgement quickly. I doubt he even owns a coffee pot. This season with Rotherham won’t be any different. Him and Ling remind me of me and Mrs doh in a strange way. When I go shopping I know what I want and when I see it, I get it. Done. Mrs doh is very different, despite seeing stuff she likes, she always wonders if something better may come along. Often ending up in getting nothing at all or a ‘that will do’ buy. I suspect the Ling approach is wait and see if someone better comes along, when time runs out we end up with, for example, Pigott. A square peg in a round hole. Despite what RW says, despite what NT says, Ling won’t change. Not in his DNA. We just have to hope there are some real late bargains to be had.

So many good signings last season and people still beat Ling with the Pigott stick.
Agyei, Sanders, Galbraith, Howes all signed 1st July. Idris and Brynn signed just a few days later.
Pigott was signed 21st July with almost a month and a half left till the end of the window. Forde, Graham, Cooper all signed after him.
Has Ling overseen some poor windows? Yes. Could we get a better DoF? Probably. But the last 3 have been very good, even accounting for the odd dud, and the fact that Steve Evans needs to sign a hundred players every window doesn't change that.
I'll also remind you all of January 2023, when the same voices were whining about Stevenage signing 6 players to our 3. We'd just blown the league, apparently.
Whose form tanked?

Ling made two exceptional signings. Edinburgh and Wellens. That’s why we are where we are. For Travis to comment on signings is a key point. Someone who knows what is going on. So to suggest Ling gets it right is to suggest RW and Travis are wrong. Good luck with that.

Whatever you think of Lingy one of his most astute signings must be O’Neil. No transfer talk or anything around him and plucks him from the Fulham reserves. It was clear from what RW said Lingy saw something and was insistent in getting him. For me, if he recreates the same G/A ratio at the start of next season we could be easily in for a £750k - £1 mil windfall come the Jan transfer window.
With Forde, Theo, Graham all wingers I’m not expecting to start the season, he will be our first choice without any new signings in same position.

RW will suggest of course, set requirements and get involved but in reality managers choose from those put forward by the DoF. That’s generally how it works, not just at Orient. its a physical impossibility for managers to scout players. They do now and always have, relied on others for sourcing players.

Our scouts do a fantastic job, never surprised when we sign a gem, never too sad when it does not go our way.The way it is.I have a football club to support and that I love to do.

Not at all. But like so many things, make a comment and people go to extremes. Nobody has ever made such a comment and I doubt anyone ever will because it’s just a wrong and stupid thing to say. But hey-ho.
