RW had said plenty of positive things about Sanders but in the final quarter of the season, by which time his fitness should no longer have been an issue, he failed to adequately step up when the team was on the slide.

RW generally says good things about his players. Part of his way in boosting their confidence. Just a good management ploy, but that’s it. Don’t read too much into it.

Whilst it's frustrating that this has made a thin squad a little bit thinner, the overreaction on social media is something to behold. You'd think we had just lost a 30 goal a season striker rather than an injury prone midfielder who probably wouldn't have been a starter anyway. Sanders is a good young player but you don't raise money selling bad old players. Who else in our squad would a) fetch a half-decent fee and b) the twitter hordes be happy with us losing? As thin as the squad might look, we're fine in the positions he plays. The only midfielder we really need is Idris or similar and he ain't that. If money was to be made selling bad old players then we would be as rich as Man City with the amount of those we've had 😂

I would absolutely dig Dobson in the club, that would be a big signing and one I'd be very happy with.

Liked Sanders, but didn't see that much of him of him because of his injuries and he didn't command a regular place in the side. He is probably better off with a good L2 side like Crewe where he should make a good impact. Wish him well.
We can probably infer from his departure that more acquisitions are imminent. The key one of course will be El Miz or his double.
Fingers crossed.

Similar plaudits were given to Coleman, Ogie, Wood, Smith, McCart - where are they now?😄👍

I would agree, so long as Galbraith isn’t pressed into service as a wing back for long spells as per last season and that Moncur is still lacking fitness and not firing on all cylinders. If either one ( or worse still both) of those scenarios come to pass then I think another two midfielders are likely to be needed.

Having 3 specialists per position is a luxury we can't really afford. If Galbraith ends up playing RB while Moncs isn't fit enough, we'll have someone who can do a job for a bit. That's the case even at richer clubs than us. And if that does happen the problem won't be because we don't have enough 10s, it'll be because we didn't buy the full-back(s) we needed and couldn't keep Moncs off the kebabs 😅

We see RW switch players around quite a lot, some suggest too much. Experienced players are adaptable. Sure they have preferred positions but that don’t mean they cannot play elsewhere. Not too sure Monks and Kebabs is very nice.

I dispute that on the basis our players switch positions frequently under RW. Players are versatile. Hope that’s clearer.

As I said, if our two specialist 10s are out, someone else will be able to do a job there. So yeah, I get that players are versatile. The two things aren't mutually exclusive though. Players can be versatile and still a specialist in a particular position or role. I'd argue most players are. For example, Galbraith can play RB but he's a much better 10.

The term specialist means something different to you, than me. Thats why we differ. No big deal. Players preferring one position over another to my mind doesn’t make them specialists. That players are versatile suggests they are not specialists, just have preferences of one position over another yet can be competent in either. Inverted wingers, inverted wingbacks and so on means they are not specialists in my opinion. A goalkeeper is a specialist.

There are more players available than places available throughout the football pyramid. No need to panic. Exactly, plenty around. As well as Dobson, Ilford born George Byers is a free agent too

Ok, I see your point, but I think it ought to have been clear from context what I meant and the semantic argument feels unnecessary. If someone describes a player as a "dead-ball specialist" you don't assume that they're saying the player has no other skills and just stands around waiting for their team to win a free-kick or corner.

I'm sorry to see Sanders leave i always thought given an injury free run in the team he could be a very good player.Hopefully we'll see an upgrade

Especially given his stop-start appearances. Let’s see who the upgrade is but put it this way, if we just signed him for the first time I’d be quite happy. Good league 1 pedigree. But let’s see who comes in, ecstasy awaits.
