Matt Lockwood who now lives in the area and was co commentator said the SPL with the exception of Rangers and Celtic are on par with League 1.He stated the players do not receive as much physicality as they do in England and perhaps that is why they said that.Orient as I said in an earlier comment were certainly more physical than of late and they looked so much better for it. We have been so easily muscled off the ball, but yesterday we was doing the muscling and looked pretty good at it,Penney in particular, but in general all round. When one of our youngsters got on the pitch he played in the same way. Wonder if we can play or will play in the coming season, staying on the right side of the ref and linos of course.

Wish we had Alex greenwood in our defence tomorrow Dennisrofe Wish we had Dennis Rofe! Dennis was unlucky to play in an era where there were many fine English left backs. I would bet that if he were playing now, he would have been a great number two choice for England if Luke Shaw was unavailable !

Wish we had Alex greenwood in our defence tomorrow Dennisrofe She is a brilliant centre back or left back for England Ladies and Manchester City. Strange decision by Serena to drop her recently in favour of still not fully fit Millie Bright and Leah Williamson ?
Beth Mead is another England ladies player still not back to her best form after her ACL knee surgery. IMO England team selection is a very close knit clique. Same goes for the mens England cricket team.

I enjoy talking about the lionesses with you Denis.Alex has such a wonderful attitude, love the concentration on her face at all times. Rofe was close to an England cap with us.Ramsey attended the o's watching him v middlesbrough 1970.a bore 0-0 draw .Liked Denis' timing of tackles of the wingers..wait and wait then take the ball.Class.

When was she dropped? I dip in and out of women's footy but she's been in the last few squads afaik.

Rachel Daly got fed up with becoming just another squad player whilst lesser players got picked for the first eleven and decided to quit playing altogether for England. Serena has her undroppable favourites

When was she dropped? I dip in and out of women's footy but she's been in the last few squads afaik. Note that Alex Greenwod regained he place in the away game to France in Saint-Etienne on Tuesday 04 JUNE 2024. England played brilliantly and won 2-1 !!
Quote ''Alex Greenwood didn't start for England against France on Friday night but the Manchester City defender should get her chance in Saint-Etienne this week Greenwood was watching from the bench as England suffered a damaging defeat to France at St James' Park. The result saw Wiegman's side plummet to third in their EURO 2025 qualifying group and, with only the top two teams set to qualify automatically, the European champions can ill afford to make another misstep in their final three games, the first of which is against Herve Renard's side in Saint-Etienne on Tuesday. Although both of France's goals on Friday came from set pieces, England looked defensively vulnerable with Bright and Williamson playing alongside each other for the first time since February 2023. Both players are yet to recover their best form after enduring lengthy injury layoffs - with Bright in particular looking rusty on Tyneside - and they have only played together twice since the summer of 2022. "Alex is a good defender, has done very well over the last period," Wiegman said when quizzed on her decision to drop Greenwood after the game. "I chose Millie and Leah. I thought we needed that in the centre because of the qualities of France. They’re very pacy, very powerful. I think that was the right decision." While it has been hard to argue against the majority of Wiegman's team selections during her stellar tenure, in this instance her decision to relegate her most in-form defender to a role on the bench was questionable. And it is not the first time the centre-back has found herself facing a battle to reclaim her starting spot for the Lionesses.

I also liked the amazing Rachel Daly who was taken for granted by Serena, a utility player who could play in the forward line, wing-back and fullback, in fact a star performer in most outfield positions. She was outstanding in the euro win playing at left back. Rachel just seemed to be taken for granted by Serena and was relegated to a place on the subs bench. She got fed up and retired from international football far too early.

She's as fit as a butchers dog and plays ten years younger.she must of been well fed up as England means the world to her. Hope we see her coaching and mentoring the young players.its a real waste otherwise

Hope we see her coaching and mentoring the young players.its a real waste otherwise As far as I know, Rachel will still be playing club football next season, only retired from England duties. Yes Rachel Daly is very fit, fast and hard as well. Serena has her favourites and Rachel is just not one of them and she keeps selecting half fit players. As a manager, you cant have sentiments in football. Southgate is another manager who has his favourites and leaves his subs too late. Kane looked like he was playing WALKING FOOTBALL tonight, never pressured their defenders or played on the last man.

As to Southgate, nice guy but he plays negative football and is afraid to leave out players and bring in fresher, younger ones. England scraped through in all the games to the final, much like a misfiring car ! If they had been on the other side of the draw would have been knocked out a lot earlier.

We have some really talented players, world class, but how we play reduces them to average. Good managers get the best out of what they have. We certainly are not getting anywhere near the best out of ours. Quite the reverse. Shame.

One is that as soon as England score, they go on the defensive and concede the midfield areas so much. His substitutions are panic measures, like last night. Notice that Spain have shelved the tiki-taka football and gone over to old style open and attacking play with two fast wingers whipping non stop crosses into the box. Once again Harry Kane played as if he had lead in his boots and once again Southgate left bringing on the subs too late. One has to wonder what more Palmer has to do to get into the starting England line up ?

Not because they had the best players but because of the way they played the game. Refreshing.

There were not many really outstanding teams in this years euro, the young Spanish winger was amazing ! My opinion, the overall standard of football played was very, very poor. Boring, dull, lacking. Not the players, the style of play. Mogadom substitute. Spain bucked that trend. Even more annoying, our best chance ever of winning. But we simply joined the boring club.

When Harry Kane was interviewed after the game, he was non stop touching his hair both back and front, looked rather strange I thought ?

That hair touching seemed like an admission of guilt. There must have been heated words said in the changing room just prior to that interview. Southgate said tireness,Trippier said nonsense not tired. Felt for trippier, missed the final after playing all other games. Shaw looked fat and unfit.looked just like moncur I felt
