Rubbish , he was never good enough . look at the stats when he was in the team. Then look at juniors stats and you will see what team performed better with what player. It's not even close either. A truer case of nepotism you'll ever see. I well remember Judd racing down the right wing and linking up well with winger James Dayton, something that the static Sam Ling could never do. Then Judd got an injury ( I cant recall what it was ? ) Sam Ling took his place and that was it.

A truer case of nepotism you'll ever see. To me that episode followed by the Russ saga really prejudiced my opinion to Ling for a long time. Then there was the meeting with Ling and I not sure if Jackett was there too, but I clearly remember Ling demonstrating that he was above Jackett in the way he used words to describe how the clubs management is answerable. That peed me off because it was not really needed. Jackett had also a superior mangers record over a long time at a few clubs. There were other Ling interviews where he used poor quality of language and at times spoke inappropriately and used words like “get rid” when describing offloading players - that I found rather degrading. However over the last few years he has improved in his interviews and I find him acceptable. He has done well over a long time and one has to respect that - he also has demonstrated compassion in some words too. Maybe he has just improved as a person now . Yes agree, I thought much the same. DJ is literally blowing smoke out his arse! He ain't fit yet! Richie has said on a couple of occasions that he is behind everyone else in terms of fitness because of the timing of bringing him in. Give it a couple of weeks... |

I thought you said you were a football coach !!! |

I thought you said you were a football coach !!! That’s sort of a fair point, lots of variables, but on that basis nearly every football stat is questionable and clubs employing expensive specialists in that area are also stupid (I don’t think they are!) So we go with what we have until something better comes along. What we can say, and I did stats at the time out of interest, the team conceded fewer goals when he played and our were results better. Vs Ling Junior. As someone who did stats as part of my job, I fully understand the enormous variables that come into play, the risks etc as you correctly say but sometimes you gotta go with what you have, accept it for all its flaws because quite frankly that’s better than sticking your finger in the air and taking a completely blind guess. If you have a better solution I’d love to hear it. |
