Perhaps he just wants to go,so we have to find another manager, then let it be thus.

The obvious answer is that there is a restricted budget available to him for transfers I would have thought. Or are you implying it’s time for the perennial “ Ling is the problem” debate to restart? not really no. I think he's doing an half decent job actually. But who or what is stopping us? Budget, yes, but, does Ling say no to a player? We got those youth players in Jan who were wholly not suited to league football, so I can't see RW saying yeah they're do especially as he was critical in some ways of them coming in. So was ling blocking then and now? Or is the board saying we can't do it? I am not saying go for broke, we've been there done that and I've no appetite to go there again. What we can agree on is the slowness of getting players in. That's on lings doorstep. In my mind we are so close, but in reality so far away from challenging. We can bridge that gap, but how I do not know. To me the major factor by far is the budget or lack of it. Ling appears to be effectively priced out of the market when it comes to obtaining experienced players with a track record at our level ( or above) unless they have a history of injury or some other kind of flaw that requires RW to iron out. I honestly think that budget also plays into the “ slowness” factor that you rightly mention to some degree. It’s not new either, Jackett suffered a similar fate when you think back to the squad depth / quality he was provided with. I would agree that overall Ling & Co do a reasonable job by and large given the resources at their disposal but this summer - so far at least- the personnel we’ve brought in are a mixed bag - Kelman looks good as does Donley. Clare is okay but not thus far a huge upgrade on Hunt imho. The rest have either not made an impact or made an impact of the wrong kind. Like you I think there is a gap to be bridged but based on what I’ve seen to date I think we’re further away from bridging it than you seem to. As I’ve said before though no point in coming to firm conclusions until 8-10 matches are under our belt , then we’ll have a much clearer picture.

The word I’m hearing is he could well be off to Blackpool.

The word I’m hearing is he could well be off to Blackpool. The word is wrong.
