It's a gamble, some pay off, some don't. We throw the dice and hope it lands on six. Haha …but true

If we are going to have a small squad and play a physically demanding style, then we have to recruit guys who can reliably crank out the minutes to a decent standard. Of this year's bunch only Currie, Ball and Kelman look like fitting that template. And that's giving Kelman the benefit of the doubt.

Well Denisrofe, I’ve committed on how much I like Agyie elsewhere. Another name for you to focus on, especially given his recent injury. 😂😂😂 Pardon ? Since when has Agyie been a long term injury plagued player brought into the club when already injured ?
Players can get injured at any time, thats something that happens in football, that is a lot different to as redintheface wrote '' the club has a propensity to sign players who have experienced injury issues for the simple reason they come more cheaply than others''
I only mentioned Agyie because over the past 4 seasons since 2020 they have both suffered injury, with us, and competed in roughly the same number of games before joining. Agyie more, Graham at a higher level. Since Grahams injury issues he has been signed by a number of clubs including Fulham, Ipswich and Birmingham, so unless their medical checks are poor, that tells me they were satisfied with his ability to play. In fact Brum signed him as recently as 2021 and he appeared in 60 games until released in 2023. That is not the record of a sick note by any margin. i saw him get injured with us. A fluke. Nobody else involved. Not dissimilar to an injury by Dan Happe if memory serves. Problems in his early career cause outages, but after that he has done OK.

Well let us hope that Graham lives up to the high expectations you had of him for this season. Also let us hope that Richie changes something around with the team so that we start winning games and players like Kelman and Agyie start to score goals regularly. Something has to change for sure if Os are to avoid the dreaded drop.

It’s a short enough career and it’s all too easy for such a thing to affect not only the body but the mind. We wait and see on a couple of our players right now. Hope it works out well for them.

Dont tell me about leg injuries my life has been blighted by them ! Football was my whole life and I was a good footballer, strong as a lion and completely fearless when playing. I was playing from a young age in school teams from 10 years old, always the captain. Had a break in my teens whilst motorbikes occupied my life, started playing again when around 19 years old for a big firms team who played in the local league then soon playing my best ever form. Then a hooligan thug went over the top on my right knee and busted my ACL. That was my footballing finished at around 20 years old. Course in those days no operations for that type of injury and took years to recognize what the problem was. So the rest of my life living with various operations on that knee, non that successful ending up with a knee replacement this year. Plus I have had many other injuries over the years including breaking my right leg in a motorbike accident and a freak accident in 2000 where I helped a relative to shift a heavy kitchen flat pack from his garden shed, walking backwards, slipped over and ruptured the cartilage in my good left knee. So all in all, two screwed up knees.

Even if there were any good crosses coming into the box, hardly as if we have anyone in the forward line who is a good header of the ball to get on the end of them is it !!

Our crossing of late, even from corners, has been poor. I fail to understand why professional players who train all week cannot drop the ball into a fairly big target area from a corner or free kick. Is it really that hard? Then give our bigger players half a chance to challenge.
But who do we have in the air when crosses come in from open play anyway. Kelman will be dominated by lumps, Agyie never strikes me as strong in the air. O’Neill don’t think so. This is why we dick around, go side to side, go backwards. We pose very little Ariel threat so backwards is the answer and hope for a shot from distance or accurate pass into e defence dominated area of the field.
Just don’t work. Not helped by generally laborious play when we try to play forward that invites their defence to get organised. The precious few decent chances come along, we screw up.
Still, it will get sorted.

''Still, it will get sorted'' That is a hope rather than a realistic certainty !

Hope! I know. I never learn. But looking us play, hope is all I have. As the joke goes, Bob Hope and No Hope. I’d fancy Bob Hope to score more. It’s the hope that takes its toll in the end.

I used to like the 1990s Sharpe tv series about the Napoleonic wars. In one episode Sharpe spoke of being in the ''forlorn hope'' In order to gain promotion by being amongst the first soldiers to storm a heavily defended position.I wondered what that term meant, perhaps you would have been leading the ''forlorn hope'' charge for king and country !!
Forlorn hope is a band of soldiers or other combatants chosen to take the vanguard in a military operation, such as a suicidal assault through the breach of a defended position, or the first men to climb a scaling ladder against a defended fortification, or a rearguard, to be expended to save a retreating army, where the risk of casualties is high.[1][2] Such men were volunteers motivated by the promise of reward or promotion, or men under punishment offered pardon for their offenses, if they survived.he the episode

I saw that episode and whilst I understood the term, the Sharp series gave its historical meaning. Still on one of the streaming platforms, watched an episode last week. 👍
