I'm behind the team 100%, but I still think it's nailed on, we'll be relegated next May, simply because I believe there isn't 4 worse teams than us. I don't believe tinkering with the line up etc, will make any difference, the cold hard fact is the players are just not good enough. It appears the club is brassic, so I'm not expecting any major signings in January Before a ball was kicked in early August I forecast relegation, with less than 40 points being achieved, & nothing I've seen changes my mind 3 months on. I also believe, if new investors aren't found, we could do a Forest Green, and slip out of the league again, because the current squad aren't good enough for league 2. I fully expect hard times ahead, but I'm 100% behind my team and always will be There are more than 4 teams worse than us. We are not going down. A hopeful prediction but thats about it. If I remember right ? you were predicting a an end of season possible top six placing, what has happened to that enthusiastic prediction ?

That is a hopeful presumption but NOT a fact ! Not a fact but the league currently says so!

Welcome back Watfordo I’ve missed your posts. The one above is bang on the money, we need to get behind the team and support them. Richie will sort it out and we will come good again. Thanks, Thor. I gave the forum a break for a while when it went all ‘two tier Kier’! now why did you have to bring him back up!!!!

There are more than 4 teams worse than us. We are not going down. A hopeful prediction but thats about it. If I remember right ? you were predicting a an end of season possible top six placing, what has happened to that enthusiastic prediction ? No go find the thread where we made those predictions. Last season I said 8th and if Richie had been backed I think the team would have finished higher, we just ran out of steam, the Jan additions were diabolical and cost us badly. Just think if we had gone up, Idris probably stays and we watch championship football. This season I said 18th and that was based on the recruitment we had made by the time I posted that. I’ve seen nothing to change my mind. Den I get what the club wants to do, build each season and I'm guessing 2 years and or the third year of Richie’s contract have a right go at promotion. I can buy into that no problem. We are not Chelsea who can spend in excess of one billion on players, how they get a return on that is anybodies guess. If Idris stayed, if we got a forward of real calibre and Vigs had returned as was mooted on here I’d have said higher, much higher. None of that materialised and my judgement was we were weaker than last season and again lack true depth, not numbers but quality replacements. We are where we are and like I keep saying, we won’t go down. You’ve been coming down Brisbane Rd far longer than I, my time as a young lad was Bloomfield and I think he’s the best we’ve had in my time. Richie I think is superb, I love his enthusiasm, his drive, his will to win, the directness of his words and his genuine love for what he does for a living. He’s gonna get it right and in time I do believe take us to the championship. In Richie we trust. I’m on board and we go again. Stay positive.

I think I was perhaps confusing it with comments you made last season. Agree with you about Jimmy Bloomfield, also my favourite manager and I loved the team in season 1969-79 that won the then third division. They played with great to watch attacking football with two out and out wingers and twin strikers Bullock and Fairbrother up front. There were no weaknesses in that side with some wonderful players in all positions including two wonderful young defenders in Tommy Taylor and Dennis Rofe.

Mark Lazarus, Barry Fairbrother and Micky Bullock would go straight into the team for the next game, ohh plus Ray Goddard and if it were possible in the time machine, would bring back the whole first 11 with Jimmy as the manager !!

Interesting fact was that Jimmy inherited the defence (numbers 1-6) plus Barrie. But it was four forwards he bought in that made the difference, Bullock, Dyson, Lazarus and Brabrook. He may have played with or known of Bullock at Birmingham and played with Mickey's brother Peter, Lazarus at Brentford and Brabrook at the Hammers.

By the way, this was at odds with his previous line that we should be more positive and stop thinking of ourselves as 'little Leyton Orient'. On that point he seems to have changed his mind. Was thinking about this as well, sharp turnaround!
