Helen Jarman, UK's first woman in space in 1991, 60 today. Helen presented at a conference I was at and I sat there spellbound and in awe of her. An amazing women who has done what we can only dream of. If you get a chance to go and listen to her speak, do so she is worth your effort. |

Happy birthday Clint Eastwood who turns 93. He has another movie in the works.
This is probably a redo, but it’s a telling story about why he’s so good at what he does. There was an interview with an actor who said Eastwood had the most calming presence of any director he had worked with. Instead of a big production before he said “Action!”, he would instead just calmly and quietly say “Is everyone ready? Ok let’s go.”
It turns out he learned that technique as an actor in spaghetti westerns. Those directors would quietly start scenes so as not to excite the horses. Eastwood thought it worked well with people too.
