I really liked Nobby Stiles what a footballer what a fighter it’s horrible seeing all my hero’s going I guess I be gone soon ooh what a life it’s gone so quickly Every time I read this thread and see another gone it reminds me of my mortality. I'm the admin for a group who are former pupils of White Bridge juniors school, we all left in 1962. I get to hear of all the deaths and, as you say, a reminder of one's mortality. |

This one is likely just for me but hopefully not. Cormac McCarthy, author of the Blood Meridian, No Country for Old Men, the Sunset Limited, The Road, All the Pretty Horses, and other books died today in Santa Fe, New Mexico aged 89. I hope people will read his books. They are honest.
Here is a quote of his that I like. “Borrowed time and borrowed world and borrowed eyes with which to sorrow it.”
