Illya Kuryakin (The Man From Uncle) and Dr Ducky Mallard (NCIS ) Scottish actor David McCallum has died aged 90. He was an actor with a long career, playing many more rolls in TV and films such as Sapphire and Steel, the Colditz Story, the Great Escape. He had a renaissance playing the medical examiner in the hugely successful NCIS series. A great actor who gave a lot of enjoyment RIP Ducky ! I had a Man from U.N.C.L.E gun. I also had the badge and a spy camera.

Rather good as Jules Maigret too, though I always preferred the old black and white dramas with Rupert Davies - truly atmospheric

Enjoyed Michael Gambon in The other one with Richard Briers,an unusual type of comedy in which both excelled. RIP Michael.

Sad to hear that he’s gone. I have enjoyed a lot of his films, but to me the most impressive one was for TV. Michael Gambon stole the show as President Lyndon Johnson opposite Donald Sutherland and Alec Baldwin in the HBO TV film Path to War. I’ve read a ton about this complex President, and watched lots of documentaries and films about him. Gambon played him better than anyone including Bryan Cranston. He gave a very convincing performance.

RIP Francis Lee aged 79. Wonderful forward for Bolton Wanderers, Derby Co & Manchester City and England. Absolutely top finisher with a tremendous shot anywhere around the penalty box.

Saw him scorer of Man City vs the Shammers, Dec 1969 at Upton Park - low shot from the edge of the 'box as I recall. Sad(!) to relate that City scored 3 more in the second half with a certain Ian Bowyer finding the net amongst others

Great ballsy player RIP Frannie. Loved the game against Leeds when he tangled with Norman Hunter. Both trading punches. Stayed on his feet only to get sent off.

He actually owned the club at one point and got the club their current stadium, he left his club a true legacy which has been built on rather spectacularly and without him what happened may never have happened.

Do we ever celebrate a birth on this thread? It seems a tad premature to laud someone's achievements at such an early stage.

According to the Guardian although its a couple of years old, they say that 250 babies are born every minute across the world.
So to all those wonderful children, welcome to the world and may your dreams be forfilled.

Sky News must have been informed beforehand or they had his obituary already to go as they’ve got very extensive coverage of his passing.
